Stalker looks fantastic! Haven?t seen him on the WW2 build before but it works so well!
Then your reimagining of Grunt & Rock N Roll.....sooo awesome! Really like the changes and they made for some cool new builds. Great poses as well! Can?t wait to see more!

Really cool stuff here! The interesting thing to me is that they each seem like they're from different eras. Stalker has a WWII vibe, while Grunt has a more Vietnam/Korean War feel, and Rock n' Roll is sort of modern-near future. Not to say they can't fit into your O-13, just that each is original in their own way

WOW! Hey thanks for the shout out nancy2k!
You're off to a roaring good start! Great takes on the characters & I like your photos (poses/lit background)! My fave here is RnR! I really like her! Planet Green Valley stuff is a bit of a challenge to get at times so it's awesome to see the usage here! The tattoos are a cool touch as well! Glad your posting these with the thought process behind them as it makes for an interesting read! I'm excited to see more from you! =) Quote:

Thanks! One of the funnest parts of this project for me has been finding ways to inject more variety into the line up beyond facial hair and hair color. At the very least, tweaking the characters here and there keeps things more interesting for me. Glad you like the results so far! |

Flash
So, my rather loose concept for Operational Group 13 is that they're a testing ground for unconventional combat methods. In situations where there is no playbook, they're sent in to write the first draft. Flash and Grand Slam represent the tech portion of this concept, field testing next generation gear like energy weapons and jet packs. I didn't really have a construction concept for these two before discovering the Animal Warriors of the Kingdom armor in the Vitruvian Armory store. I ordered various armor pieces, not really knowing whether it would work or not. After playing with various arrangements and modifications, I settled on what you see here. The arm and leg armor on these customs is hip armor cut off of AWOK belts. I attached MTF mounting pegs to the backside of each piece so they could be be plugged into the modular mounting points on MTF Trooper figures. Interestingly, Flash wound up being one of the most diverse figures in this series, in terms of parts used. The majority is MTF, but the lower arms are Dime Novel Legends and the lower legs and feet are BFS. Even still, there is very little painting on this figure as the MTF green was a near perfect match for the green on the BFS legs. Grand Slam Growing up, Grand Slam was the most obscure Joe of them all. though I got my first Joe in 1982 at age 6, I had no idea Grand Slam existed until a friend of mine leant me his Yearbook 1 around 1985. Even then, though, there wasn't much to him. He wasn't on the cartoon, rarely appeared in the comic past the first few issues, and there was no internet at the time to fill you in on the figures you missed when you weren't paying attention. The first time the character really registered for me was issue 59, where Hama gives GS a new role on the team as a field tester of new weapon systems. Finally, GS had a place in my Joe universe, and it's basically where I've placed him (along with Flash) in my OG13 re-imagining. I initially thought I'd repaint his AWOK armor silver, but once the armor pieces arrived, the pearlescent coloration struck me as far more interesting and pseudo-futuristic. It retains the striking gleam of the 1983 silver padding that first distinguished GS from Flash, but has a certain next-gen ceramic, heat-deflecting appearance that feels more appropriately modern. In regard to construction, I did something different with the leg armor here in comparison to Flash. The panels are still removable, but rather than using the MTF modular mounting points, I glued the armor panels to thigh-hugging straps cut from other accessories. That’s a super creative Flash! I noticed the BF lower legs right away so I was trying to pick the parts before looking at the text to see what else I could spot. Somehow I totally missed the DN gloves! Really awesome build! He looks great!
Grand Slam looks incredible as well! Never saw those armor pieces before so really cool seeing them here because they definitely give the MTF bodies some fresh looks. The in flight pic is fantastic! Your OG13 is coming along nicely!

And the hits keep coming! Very creative builds here for the add-ons, definitely gives everyone a cool look and your viewers a fresh perspective! Many here have built the OG13, but your giving some old guards a new spin! I love the differences you have between the 2, and I think that Flash's helmet rig is just awesome! I have a Flash just starting to be in the works (not the OG version), & WIPS for Stalker/Breaker (just waiting for 1 key piece on both...) & I will have to get to Grand Slam at some point so I can also have *versions* of the 13.
