I don't like any of the Modern Roadblocks, so I made my own. 2009's Roadblock v. 19 gave me most of what I was looking for, but I had to resculpt the left leg and the atrocious knees. I then built the right leg knife sheath with a clipped Marauder dog leash and refitted the web gear to better match the oversized buck. Here's what it looked like before paint. One more detail shot before we go. I really like how the skin tones on this came out. Took a bit to work out the combination, but I think it works and looks better than the base figure. This one has been on the bench for a while. Glad to finally add him to my ranks! |

That is freaking awesome bro. Definitely a much better roadblock for sure.

This is exactly how I picture Roadblock. No blue jeans or grey pants. No space gear or bullet bands around his biceps. Just a perfect update of his first 80's design. The silver backpack works, too.
Great sculpting fix on the knees, too. |

Thanks! A lot of my inspiration for these ARAH updates is to simply have a version of beloved characters from my youth that I'm willing to display. Unfortunately so many of the key characters in their orthodox v. 1 colorways were done so early in the revived Hasbro line that they weren't even close to nailing the format yet. The ball-like shoulders on all the early Roadblocks are _the worst_.
There are a few characters I think they did a good job with (50th Gung Ho comes to mind), so I'm not sure if I'll update those, but that still leaves dozens of figures yet to do! |

Thank you! I've done most of the O13 crew but haven't posted them here. One day soon I will gather all my ARAH customs in a mega-thread, but doing that means re-taking a lot of old pictures, so for now I'm just posting them one at a time.

Have you made a Duke companion piece yet? Like a "We just shot down a Rattler at a funeral" piece?

No, not yet. I got one of the recent "geared up" figures for Duke early in the pandemic, stored him in a different display, and then promptly forgot about him. Only recently while looking at my 83/84 customs have I thought about bringing him back and finishing him off in style. I'll get there, but it might be a while.
