Haha, always good to hear these things I’m putting together are desired. Lmao! Quote:
.....you know, I built this Wet-Suit before I started painting bodies so it never occurred to me that the recipe could be used now to make a kick ass V1! Haha. I always want a better v1 / Toon version of Wet-Suit so you probably added that to my list now as well. Definitely post some pics if you decide to make him, would love to see how it looks if you get to it before I do. Don’t think I have any cloth legs left at this point and definitely don’t have another diver mask so he should be a while off for me.

Up next is probably one of the more important customs that I’ve done. This was done following along with the first virtual Boss Fight custom class so it was the first time I customized one of their figures, first time I painted skin, eyes, doing washes, wet brush, etc. Haha. Basically everything I’ve learned about technique started with that class and this figure. Before then it was just slap paint down over & over again until the end result looks like what I wanted it to be. I definitely learned more about & improved my skill at most of those techniques so this one is always fun for me to check out since it was the stepping stone to most of the more advanced builds I’ve done recently.
So the figure itself was so much fun to make but everything came in mystery bags so I was doing him with something specific in mind, then we opened up a bag of lobster parts and it just didn’t fit my vision for what I thought we were making. (I did love the finished product that they came up with though and it became the basis for my Mega Monster Abyss-Viper later on). I veered off in a different direction using body parts I had bought from them previously and my Cobra-La General was born. I love GI JOE: The Movie, always have since the first time I saw it growing up so I always want to start building out that group more. Quite a few figures that I need to make to finish that project so this is the first of many. Full Boss Fight Build, washes on basically every part following along with what they did in their class. Then branching off to do a skin tone that resembled some of the Cobra-La citizens from the movie. Now that I know I’m keeping him as my Cobra-La General, I’m gonna touch up some parts and seal his paint. I may also add a Cobra logo on his belt once I have the paint sealed. Cobra-La General

Thanks! Once they had us starting to paint the fur pieces to look like grass & seaweed I figured he’d be a good match with the plant based Cobra-La stuff. Honestly had no idea what I was doing with him until that point. Haha.

Looks cool. I wasn’t feeling that Lobster thing they did either, so this is a well advised deviation.
Also, what’s a wet brush?

I just had a knight type human in my head as I was following along so the lobster parts just threw me off so much in the moment. I did really like their finished product though, to the point where I wasn’t sure if I would leave him like this or circle back and mimic their figure. Got the best of both now though by ordering another blank. Just painting with your brush fairly wet so you get a nice thin coating of paint that allows for all of the detailing in the sculpt to still come through really well. I never used to do that but it does really work out great. Thanks, I appreciate it! Always fun to knock out some of these lesser celebrated versions / characters.
