My wife is constantly unimpressed by my comedy.
She routinely asks me, “That one was just for you, wasn’t it?” It is the middle of the night and I am tired and loopy. This one is just for me. After Skidmark quit the Joe team due to harassment, Hawk assigned a new Joe to drive the Desert Fox. SHIT STAIN

Not going to get into the whole thing between you and the Mrs., just very confused by what's happening with the belt and knee orientation here. Was this custom... AI "assisted"?

Haha!
Oh, I just threw something together in a few seconds. Just so happened that this particular brown harness had no belt peg hole. It looks to have been melted or mis-punched. I just left it open. The legs went all wonky due to my violent wrangling trying to get the brown half-shoulder-pads to fit on the calves.

Just an easy-peasy kitbash tonight. Of course it is the ubiquitous Red/White Rescue-Ops Hard Master. My main goal was just to add some Arashikage livery to this ready-made figure.

Man that turned out great. My only critique is the brown on the chest armor. Maybe paint it white?

Just messing around with my completely ineffective Army Painter Speedpaints and a thoroughly ruined Security-Ops body.
Do not get me wrong here, I love Army Painter Speedpaints. They have great colors, great coverage and are VERY forgiving. If I painted miniatures, I could not recommend these Speedpaints more highly. They are, however, just not suitable for moving parts. This fella has comical amounts of paint rub. So, this figure was painted previously and I have been experimenting with paint removal via brake fluid. Apparently, knowing exactly how long to leave a figure submerged in Dot4 brake fluid takes a fair amount of skill. Skill that I do not possess. That is okay. I may not have found the solution, but I HAVE succeeded in finding six ways NOT to strip paint from a figure using Dot4 brake fluid (and I have a trip to the ER and an upcoming eye exam to show for it. Eye safety is serious, guys). Being born into, and living my childhood in near-poverty, I have a natural aversion to throwing things away. After ruining this particular figure, I thought, instead of tossing the figure, would at least try the speedpaint slap-chop method on an MTF figure. Something that I had been curious about but was previously too scared to try. I chose dark pink on a coin toss and got to work. I actually like how the paint turned out. I like the detail and contrast showing in all the wrinkles and creases, but even after three coats of varnish, the amount of paint rub makes this guy useless. I thought I would take a quick picture just to post. With the figure being pink I thought it would be appropriate to mock-up a Create-A-Cobra figure, but I do not have a lot of appropriate accessory pieces in my parts bin, so I rationalized by thinking this guy could be a Create-A-Cobra Officer or Field Commander. I will even go so far as to make him a named character. Just going off the example listed on YoJoe.com, I choose BARWABUS. I am sure that is a child?s misspelling, but I think it suits my figure fine. BAWRABUS (Create-A-Cobra Officer)

I like the Create A Cobra it looks good.
In regard to stripping paint I recommend trying Simple Green, or mean green or one of those citrus based concentrated cleaning fluids. I know Simple Green works and you can get it at Walmart for about four bucks. I've stripped figures and gundam model parts that I messed up on before. It doesn't get 100% off without a lot of elbow grease and a stiff brush but it gets off anywhere that is texturally messed up by too much paint which is what I was trying to do. Anywhere there's too much paint the excess will slough right off after soaking overnight and leave a more even surface for repainting/priming.

Nice take on all of these.
Seeing Shooter takes me back to '82, wondering who that character was and if we'd ever see a figure. Continuity wise, your take lines up with what we might have seen if Trimpe had drawn more than the one panel. Big thumbs up. |
