HHFF,
So, did you have to modify the MTF 86 Vest or Snake Eyes harness? I think there is a lot of potential with this new design. I am loving that most of the parts are boil & pop designs. Can't wait to get my hands on some Stalker figures. One thing I really hope for is that if Hasbro plans to update Flash and/or Grand Slam that they do justice to the stirrup pants and boots. I would be super stoked if Hasbro finally offered a true "retro" version of Snake Eyes with twin pockets and explosive device thighs and stirrup pants legs. Jason Backpack (not shown) fits in the back socket but is real tight. The backpack also sits real low and kinda awkward, but with the SE harness, the straps don't interfere with the back hole. For final, I'd probably cut the peg and glue the packpack to the harness exactly where it needs to be. Quote:
The bigger issue is that it all looks too heavy and bulky, despite using small gribblies on the vest. The torso is alway busty, the vest is the thinnest it could be, and it all just doesn't work for me though it may seem all right in the picture. If only there were another Retro figure without a massive chest and torso... Stalker says you're welcome. |

I might have to walk back what I said about the 25th Clutch vest. Tonight I found a way to make it work a whole lot better, but my hands are so sore now. More pics and info late Friday nite, here and in the general parts thread. Til then keep the vests ready, and get a spare retro cobra trooper. And lots of ice...

These look awesome. I bought a Stalker last night with plans to make a shipwreck. Ive seen on this thread that alot of the joints are boil and pop. My main question is the waist and mid torso joint boil and pop? Also are the shoulder joints boil and pop? Thats what i have gathered from some of the comments on here

Stalker and I going over more potential set 9 candidates. Not shelf ready, plenty of other candidates waiting in the hallway. Also, a shot of Stalker's backside for his fans...

Welp. Things moving faster than I thought. I really want to wait for Hasbro get a few more new builds on the shelf for more parts/accessories, but I'm like a cat with a twistie tie.
So, MTF vest: 2021-06-19_03-01-54 by HissHissFangFang, on Flickr or 25th vest: 20210619_035541 by HissHissFangFang, on Flickr or both (with apologies to the space-time continuum): 2021-06-19_05-40-23 by HissHissFangFang, on Flickr These three (+/-1) are keepers for now. I've got 1.5 spares left beyond the carded. I'll keep playing, take a few photo of a nigh-completed figure, then break it donw for another. It's too hot out there to keep hunting, and 5 of the same figure at retail is way more than I've ever bought in my life. Having AVAC's Lab and the MGR store at this time is also killing me (but a sign to slow down/wait). 2021-06-19_05-51-43 by HissHissFangFang, on Flickr |

Both vests now fit, using the Cobra Trooper torso instead of the Stalker one. It's a little more complicated than that, as I'll soon post in the Vietnam mold parts thread. Sbarty, did you try out the two vests for yourself, and confirm what I've said previously? I though you were leaning towards the 25th vest for your figure... I decided that I will go with the MTF 86 vest for final. The 25th vest used for these pics is a loan from my DO NOT MOD OG13 25th collection. If I let myself mod it (NO DO NOT), I could cut down the plastic on the inside, to lower it on the shoulders, open it up around the neck to look less stuffy, and open it up around the arm openings for more relaxed arms. Currently ebay listings are about $30-$40 for a vest and not much else I already have. Not worth it, MTF vest is a lot cheaper, plus I do want to use parts I haven't used for my other 7 OG13 sets for these new guys as much as possible, but not stray away from the spirit of the original vintage designs. The MTF vest is okay, less bulky now, but still too busy. This vest will be a long slow side project to get it more streamlined, but still look as good. Then apply those techniques to other MTF vests, belts, and harnesses. |
