#178. SMOKESCREEN (based on GI Joe ARAH "Short-Fuze" toy & comic versions)
Marauder Task Force Origin: USA Season 4 When I make sub-teams I usually create the roster before I even start making them, & they are usually team's of 8 or 10. When I was creating "Warhawk's OG Squad" Short-Fuze was early on the list as I wanted to incorporate a mix of the original 13 & '86 characters as I could in relation to Hawk (plus some liberties w/Sgt. Savage/Doc 2.) As early as Short-Fuze was on the list, I couldn't recreate him without the classic green/black trooper body, which has been out of stock on the site for ...forever. To give you an indication, I have only used that body ONCE in the 170+ figures I have created so far since I started this thread in 2017, and that was with figure number 1 (aka ONE)! SF is simple and based on both his toy/comic interpretations for a type of ultimate version... when you are building quite a few complex figures it's fun to get back to basics. SMOKESCREEN was brought out of the reserve to help WARHAWK on the Moldova Alien tech mission. Only WARHAWK would bring SMOKESCREEN on because he is a short tempered, argumentative, whiny, practical joker that most of the team can't stand. You think he looks cool when he arrives with his sunglasses and oldskool dragon missile launcher... then he opens his mouth. With that said, he's also a bit of a genius & can plot artillery azimuths and tribulations in his head, & he never misses a target. WAR HAWK'S OG SQUAD complete! Top-Bottom L-R: BRIDGEHEAD (Beachhead)/LEATHERHEAD (Leatherneck)/RAMPAGE (Sgt. Savage)/SAW BONES v2 (Doc Carla Greer)/SPARKY (Sparks)/GRAVESTONE (Grunt)/ATHENA v2 (Scarlett)/WARHAWK (Hawk)/SMOKESCREEN (Short-Fuze)/PIPELINE (Rock N Roll) Last edited by Steel Brigade; 12-09-2020 at 02:04 PM.. |

#179. OX (PHANTOM FORCE VERSION) (based on GI Joe ARAH "Night Force Muskrat")
Marauder Task Force Origin: USA Season 5 Muskrat was a late addition to my version of Night Force as I kept going back & forth on the roster. Then one night I was figuring out what to do with my extra blue contract-ops t-shirts on Yo Joe and quickly added his remaining build to my MGR cart! My brothers & I had the original version as kids, so it was fun to add this one to my MTF ranks! OX spent his formative years up to his knees in one swamp or another, hunting raccoon, possum and wild pig. He was able to hold his own against poachers, 'gator skinners, moonshiners, escapes from the chain gangs, and smugglers. With all of that behind his belt he went to Ranger school and proved to be a handful for his superiors. When he was tapped for Phantom Force duty with the newly formed MTF it was because they needed someone to get them through the murky areas surrounding the Gunrunners elite meeting fortress. He's unbeatable in the swamps and now a force of nature at night! |

#180/X10. LOCK UP (based on GI Joe ARAH "Mace")
Marauder Task Force Origin: USA Season 8 You know when you are so excited to show off a build you just can't wait but you do because you have to have a few other figures finished to go with him, (or at least I do lol) that's Mace lol. I love it when I make builds like this because I think I have made a clever reinterpretation in MTF. We had this guy as a kid and I didn't have much plans to recreate him at first because he was kind of obscure & had a rocket launching head lol, then I was looking for ways to use my (now) left-over tan contract-ops legs & got inspired when realizing they would work well for a Mace re-do with the new black trooper updated torso. I wanted to show this guy off a week or so ago and was happy to finish another 4 figs so that I could... as I really love this build for him! After years working undercover gaining the trust of high level criminals, LOCK-UP has managed to infiltrate some of the largest crime syndicates the world over. His work throughout the years has brought some of the biggest raids and shutdowns in international history. After the Armageddon Wars, he continues his personal vendetta on crime by defending the streets against wrongdoers and feeding the latest info to the MTF so him and his elite security team (which also consists of EARTHQUAKE & PATRIOT) can keep those longing for peace safe. Now using mech technology with an advance targeting system LOCK UP can cause maximum damage to the slums, black market trade, and drug dens that pollute the world. Very strong batch, but Mace is an absolute standout.

^^^ Thanks bro! Patriot is next!
NEW RECRUITS!!!!! #176/X8. PATRIOT (based on S.T.O.P. VS. S.C.U.M. "Patriot") Marauder Task Force Origin: Ireland Season 8 Part of the reason that I decided to recreate S.T.O.P. VS. S.C.U.M. is that the original figures from a decade ago are waxy, and disintegrating/crumbling even within the safety of storage. If you collected these & haven't checked them in a while you might be surprised... although it's a dollar store figure so maybe not lol. When recreating Patriot here I took a wee-bit more liberties with his color. After thinking I was finished with him I went back and read his file card (that I had saved) and saw that he was from Irish decent, & looked Caucasian on the front of the card art rather than the tan skin tone that all of the good guys had. I'm guessing they were all part of the same mold and got the same color treatment, with Reco/Tank being of darker skin tone heritage it would make sense to color the 3 dark instead of light. But since I am recreating, why not make him look like an Irish lad with light skin & red hair. I also added some blue to his color beats to kind of give him that "police" vibe but also keep him overall dark but break up the color a bit so him & his other 2 comrades were not just all black outfits. I love how MGR has the actual Aliens pulse rifle available that both Patriot/Tank also had for the original figures. Patriot is a Ex-Irish Army Ranger who specializes in Unconventional Warfare, Counter Terrorism, and Counter-Insurgency. He was eventually transferred to the USA & trained extensively with the US Army Green Berets and US Navy SEAL (Sea, Air and Land) Teams. He is a master of hand-to-hand combat and holds several advanced belts in Jiu-Jitsu and Kuidondo. Patriot saw heavy action in the Armageddon Wars as chief of security in the Middle East arena. After the subsequent collapse of world government, he joined forces with the "South Paws" & then the MTF as their security head to help re-establish order in the streets and battle the anarchy being spearheaded by WRATH.

You nailed Short Fuse! I just love the Originals and Short Fuse was one of my favorites despite his admittedly plain uniform.
I actually like the Night Force Muskrat better than the original. I will definitely be using your formula when I make my Muskrat. I had actually forgotten about that version of Pathfinder and had to go back to Yojoe to look him up. A very underrated version of him, but much more combat appropriate. Great build! Okay, your Mace is absolutely inspired. I love him! Awesome job. Wonderful out-of-the-box thinking with his launcher set-up. Unlike the original, your Mace will not be immediately decapitated at the first missile launch.

Patriot is great. Using the big pouch in the top holes give that vest a really cool new look! Always innovating with your accessorizing!
When I was trying to figure out what to do with the Contractor I used for Action Man, I was torn between doing him or tackling that Pathfinder. I just didn’t have another sunglass head, plus I was liking the idea of a new Joe on my shelf so I went with Action Man. Pfft, I wouldn’t have done Pathfinder nearly as well as you did! Love the main build and the 86 vest works perfectly for him.....but the arm & weapon rig! Brilliant! I was thinking I probably didn’t need to do this version, even though I always loved Pathfinder growing up but your version changes my mind. Definitely one I’ll be copying fairly closely. Love it! You Short-Fuze works really well and like you said, with the complex customs or things we are all making a lot of the time, it’s always fun to just scale back and do a simple but highly effective build. He looks great, can’t really top what you did there. Muskrat is another perfect build! I’m fine with my Club version but your Marauder build improves on it in every way! Would love to see a pic of him on the skimmer board if you have it. Haha, much like Blue Bazooka & Col Courage, DEF Mace is another I made very early in my kitbashing days.....your version shows how he should be done! He’s incredible. Love the build and then how you created his helmet and weapon is phenomenal. I always loved DEF Muskrat & Mace growing up and definitely need good versions in my modern collection so I love seeing how awesome yours came out. Great job as always!
