The mask did get released with the Club's Big Boa, but I didn't know that it was originally intended for a retail RoC figure; I always thought that mask was part of the Club's new tooling budget. Anyone got a link to what that figure might have looked like?

Man you know I'm a fan of anything 80s action figures related. Love that you included this line in your universe. If you wanted to go with a mask really close to the original for "Bad Ninja" Eagle Force has the Fireball figure that has a welding mask. I'm sure you already knew that as you have an extensive knowledge of most action figure lines.

Oh wow! I love these!! You have crafted some real beauties?again!! Outstanding as usual breathing life into old forgotten toys. Now the real question for you. Do you play with your creations or place them lovingly on a shelf or in a display? Thanks for sharing! Almost forgot Happy (7TH) Anniversary!!

Great group of guys. I am sorry to say I was unaware of this toy line. I got a bit of a history lesson while enjoying this great drop. Love the boxing mask. I always pass it by when I look through AVACs, but I may just pick it up to see if I can spark the old brain cells. Whose head is under the mask, by the way? Yeah, Gladios is a keeper! Quote:

No familiarity with these, but once again, you really put those parts to work. Innovative parts use keeps expanding. Can't wait for you to get your hands on this Vietnam parts for future projects

I never new about this toy line until you posted them, so this is definitely a "Now You Know" moment for me. But you improved upon the original with your knack for picking the perfect parts to compliment your figure builds. Excellent job all around SB, I'm looking forward to seeing more custom greatness from you as you work your way towards 500. And beyond!

Way too often toy designs are diminished by the limits of mass production on a budget, to the point where the package art is way beyond the toy! (Also true of some 80’s Joes if I’m gonna be honest) - regardless, it’s always fun to see obscure lines get marauderized by you. While it’s sometimes more than their original versions deserve, it’s great to see the possibilities of MTF having no limits. thanks, as always, for the tour through the possibilities. Seven years now!!!? Wild!

NEW RECRUITS!!!!! - MASKED MARAUDERS!!!!!
WAVE 98: (MASKED MARAUDERS) 486. CRIMSON MOON OFFICER (based on the unreleased Palitoy "Red Shadows Officer" 1982 figure) Crimson Moon Origin: United Kingdom 'NAM 19XX This whole wave contains characters that wear masks/helmets (that's the theme lol...) The entire group has been finished for a few months, & we are kicking it off with the one who was in development the longest, the unreleased "Red Shadows Officer." This guy has been on the "long list" for a equally long time, & I was not sure if he'd ever get made, as he was an "extra" Red Shadows character if I ever needed one. But as a "Parts-Bin Build" all of the parts eventually found their way to his creation when I got the new MGR Red Chrome Visor Head as a freebie & needed very little to finish the build I had envisioned. With Eagle Force's official (eventual) release of their 4" Crimson Moon/Red Shadows figures to finish off the remaining roster, I think I only need to make a "Red Laser" homage at this point. ;-) *As a friend of Gary Goggles it was great to add Gyre Wolf to the collection! BIO: The elusive CRIMSON MOON OFFICER is rarely seen on the battlefield. Often giving commands to his troops from a hidden bunker, many of his own men have never seen him in person. That is about to change, as he is going to be summoned from the bamboo jungles of Vietnam up into outer space, to help join the command team in charge of Crimson Moon's newest terror force, the WOLF TROOPERS!! |

487. EARTHQUAKE ("THE HUMAN GUN" VERSION) (based on the unreleased Star Brigade "Shockwave" 1995 figure)
Marauder Task Force Origin: USA Season 10 "The Human Gun" Version/Version 3 I don't know when I would have come across this unproduced figure, but I was first introduced to him by Hiss Tank amigo Joerauder Rob. After seeing his build, I knew I wanted to add this odd Star Brigade version of Shockwave to my roster, with the idea of plusing him up with an exo-Suit. Once the Chrome Visor head's showed up on MGR I was good to go! I decided to forgo the grenades with a red sticker on his chest (& eye) to make him look more "robo" & it comes from a MGR exo-suit sticker sheet duo that I have yet to see appear on the site, but I have couple that I received as freebies, because I order so many exo-suits lol! BIO: When EARTHQUAKE was injured beyond hope in an act of bravery, he had signed on prior for an experimental program developed by the robotics work of SCIENCE DIRECTOR GREG D. SCOTT, to have his life continue as a cyborg. The first finalized soldier of his kind, EARTHQUAKE is more metal than man, & is able to achieve great feats of heroism tough for any soldier, both on Earth & beyond, with his newly enhanced cyborg body! 488. BADLANDS TROOPER(S)
Wrath Origin: Various Season 9 MTF "Geared-Up" Figure When MGR offered a bunch of multicolored Viper & B.A.T. homages on their site, this was the one I went for, the "Badlands Trooper," as I thought the color combo was great, & he sold out quicker than most, so others must of liked him too. This guy was a little tough to "officially" build cuz his arm sockets were rock solid to disengage with the bare forearms (hardest to date) & that backpack rig takes some finesse lol. I didn't change anything on him from the MGR build & so rarely get to use my desert background. ;-) BIO: The BADLANDS TROOPERS are the Wrath infantry of the desert's outer-rim (aka "The Badlands") during the "Future War," acting as scouts, security, & enforcers. Their suit is heat controlled & their helmet solar reflective with multiple readouts for hostile environments. They often tangle with the MTF desert patrol & have been known to be especially "on the look out" for trouble from the MTF'S near vigilante members YUREI KAGE & HIT LIST! 489. BAMBOO BRIGADE (based on the unreleased "Tiger Force Steel Brigade" 2004 figure)
G.I. Joe Origin: USA/Various 'NAM 19XX Parts Bin Build! Found online pics of the unreleased *fan's dubbed* "Tiger Force Steel Brigade" & knew I had to build him! Got the helmet (colored the visor) & nifty Firefly harness cast from Avac's to make him accurate & extra special! I've built a few Steel Brigade homages in this thread but they have always been a singular character, this is the first one to be an actual trooper in the story... BIO: The secretly dubbed "BAMBOO BRIGADE" is a special unit of G.I. Joe Steel Brigade Jungle Warfare Specialists following the lead of *Currently Classified... (stay tuned)* deep into the bamboo jungles of Vietnam to find what is being called the Crimson Moon's "Space Bridge" & dismantle it. Word has it that Crimson Moon has a clearing in the Thanh Hoa jungle with a landing strip where unusual air ships called the "Roboskull" have been landing... seemingly from outer space! |
