Good evening fellow Tankers, I am finally getting a chance to present my Broadcast Energy Transmitter or B.E.T. online. This is the one I displayed at Joe Con. I had planned to have this up sooner, but the photo's I originally took got corrupted somehow. Fortunately, we were given a late snow here in Kansas City, and I was able to take some more shots of it in a winter environment. The little dio and background are all obviously a nod to the 1987 movie.
This was a commissioned piece that I took on, with a lot of hesitation to be honest at first. It had to be more or less scratch built with found parts and styrene from the ground up to be done right, seeings how I was basically making a vehicle portrait. I did add the rotating feature on the upper housing. In the cartoon it only shoots the emitter beam from one position. This B.E.T. rotates all around except above the cockpit. The most difficult and time consuming part of the build was developing the axle system and making it strong enough to roll, but support the weight as well. I ended up using a closed duel axle system that links up with RC rubber tires and I'm glad I did, she ended up weighing in at just under 9 pounds. Anyway, there are a plethora of parts and materials used in this, some of the wip pics will give them away. Thanks a bunch for looking and all comments are appreciated! * EDIT *Due to the high volume of interest, I am taking names of those who might like to purchase one via PM. Due to this being a prototype, I don't know what the price will be until molds are finished and parts are investigated for their price to edition. If you would like to be added to the list of maybe, pending price, please pm me and I will get back to you with an approximate number when things become more clearer. Thanks a bunch!! |

I saw this at Joecon, and spoke with you about it. No pics can do it justice. I would love to grab one of these from you, depending on the price.
