While I had a ton of Joes in the 80s, my mom was not one for clutter, and she had at least 2 garage sales a year while I was growing up. So unfortunately, I have very few of my original toys from my childhood, and so far as I know, no original Joes. But while I would like to go back and start collecting some 80s Joes again, over the years I have amassed a complete collection of the original comic book series, and recently found out about the Classified line and have fallen in love with them. That's actually how I discovered this site.
But anyway, I looked around my basement "mancave," and realized that I do have some random Joe stuff beyond my comic and Classified collections, so I figured I'd make a thread. Obviously it's nothing compared to the awesomeness in this collection forum, but I still wanted to share. Comics. I have a full run of the original series as well as some of the sub-series. I also subscribe to the new series and try to keep up on the reading. Classified Figures. I only have a few at this point, but I'm looking forward to getting more. As far as my choices, I liked the look of the all black Snake the best, and the Wal-Mart exclusive Baroness looked better than the one that came with the COIL bike, to me anyway. I just think her face in particular looks much better in this figure. And I didn't really care for any of the movie figures with the exception of Scarlett. She is light on accessories, sadly, but I think she looks great. I love the art on the boxes, but I do with they had proper file cards included. Video Games. I'd say the first Nintendo game is my favorite of the bunch, but I like them all to some extent. I thought I had the game based on the movie on the PS2 or PS3, but I didn't see it on my shelf. Since I haven't played that one in many years, I don't recall how it ranks with these. Movies. The newer live action movies are all varying levels of ok. I neither love nor dislike them. I will say that while I liked the new Snake Eyes movie overall, I was very disappointed with their depiction of the man himself. He was a chatterbox and kind of a wimp. Very un-Snake in my opinion. The Shout Factory DVD set of the original series is excellent, they did one for the original Transformers series as well. I've got some VHS tapes of the cartoon and the original movie as well, but those are boxed up. Randomness. I must have picked up the reissue Cobra at least 10 years ago maybe more, probably at Target or some place. I'm pretty sure I have a couple more from that line, but I think some of my stuff was misplaced the last time we moved. The 12 inch Duke is from the Desert Storm line. A buddy of mine actually gave that to me a few years back. He's pretty cool, the gun has a button that makes firing noises. And I've been using that little cooler/lunch box to store old gameboy games for years. Pretty sure I bought it in the early 2000s for lunches when I was working nights as a newspaper pressman because I recall some of the older fellas busting my chops about it. Ha! |

I appreciate all the positive feedback, fellas. Thanks. I realize that I don't have much beyond the comics, but dang it, I love Joes. Ha! And it's been a lot fun drooling over all of the real serious Joe collections in this forum.
Of the dozen or so comics that I lusted over as a kid, at some point about 4 or 5 years ago, I decided go back and try to find high quality graded copies of them for the best prices that I could. That was one of them. I was actually fortunate to buy when I did because comic prices (just like most collectables) ended up skyrocketing during covid lockdown. |
