It would behoove them to charge more than $500 for it as if not to devalue HasLab, but knowing the Bro, they’ll likely change a thing or two and add a different exclusive figure to convince those that already have the barge to buy it again, but under the guise of preserving the exclusivity of the original
Good to know though. They'd be wise to wait a couple more years, I think. Or else Barge backers will be pissed, and may be hesitant to back future projects.

Really? Sort of defeats the purpose of Haslab a bit. I mean, if its going to make it to retail either way, why rush to back it? Good to know though. They'd be wise to wait a couple more years, I think. Or else Barge backers will be pissed, and may be hesitant to back future projects.

I would bet that Hasbro will re-release the Barge at some date. No way would they destroy those molds. And i'm sure theres some fine print for exclusivity that will allow them to do it.
For future reference if you know a Hasbro employee they usually get 40% off. I have a family member that was able to get me the Barge at a very discounted price. It sat in my basement for 6 months and I pondered if I wanted to display it, but when I saw the mark up on the figures that would be required to fill the levels I decided to sell it off. Premium prices for background characters that most casual fans wouldnt recognize really turned me off. I did pull the trigger on the RazorCrest though (at discount). At least that is simple to fill and comes with the figures. |

Like most crowdfunding, like KS, the intent is commonly to go to retail. I get that Haslab SHOULD be different because they don’t need startup money, but the exclusivity offered was never the barge itself. The work bench book and retro yak face were the only things that were exclusive to Haslab, which would implicitly suggest nothing else was, including the barge.
I know many use crowd funded toys to prospect exclusive, small run items, but there is no guarantee of exclusivity. Again I’m pretty sure I recall Hasbro outright stating that they reserve the right to go retail with it, and like Axon said only the card back for the Yakface and the little book were promised as exclusive. I think the box design too but not sure about that. Hasbro just wanted to cover their production costs up front and hedge any gamble for this selling. People have mixed opinions on that. The only expectation with crowd funding that I would agree with is that backers get their perk before it is offered to the general population, and that the price on the crowd funded perk be cheaper than what may one day be offered in mass. But I don’t think we can expect the latter here. Now that the design and tooling are done I can’t see Hasbro asking more than $500 for this at retail. My guess is that it might be a Pulse and or Fan channel only item. Not sure mass retailers would be interested in a play set of this scale.

I would think that if it is released again, it will be very limited. This bastard would never make it to brick and mortar. I think the fan channel or Pulse, as CC suggested, is the likely outlet should this happen.

I do hope all of you get a second shot at this. When I saw the after market prices as a MiB collector I had considered selling mine but my inner child won't let it go. It's pretty cool as a play piece for kids and a display piece for adult collections. Unlike the Bepsin Stair Way to Nowhere, and the Tantive IV wall, this has some play value and I can visualize my 8 year old self playing with this.
