Do you prefer to wait until sideshow makes it or do you prefer to bash your own?
Myself I rather bash my own. I haven't open any of my Sideshow figures.

I haven't bought a 1/6 figure in years, but for the most part I kit bashed them. This was before Sideshow came along, and there's no way I can afford their figs. I know I made my own versions of Flint, Falcon, Beach Head, Tunnel Rat, Vietnam-era Stalker, and Lifeline. In fact, my "Holy Grail" of all things Joe is a '60's Marine Medic figure I bought from a catalogue about 10 years ago.

Ah, 1/6 scale. What fun it used to be collecting this scale 10 and 15 years ago. Things were affordable and plentiful. I'm talking about when Medicom 12"ers were the high end figures and they didn't come close to Hot Toys quality of sculpting and accessories.
I literally have 6 to 10 bins of 1/6 scale figures and accessories from Dragon Models, 21st Century toys, even a ton o'Hasbro... All forgotten and untouched for years, besides that short-lived resurgence about 3 years ago. I use to bash and customize my Joes. I must have 3 different versions of Snake-Eyes, lol. Hmm... I need to go get them and see what I want to keep and get rid of. Thanks for making me think of this! ;)

I was big 1/6 customizer back when Hasbro & Ultimate Soldier were popular. Did a ARAH verson of Firefly and made all the versions of Snake Eyes & Storm Shadow's from ARAH to Valor vs Venom in 1/6 scale.
Then kinda lost interest in 1/6 when Hasbro & Ultimate Soldier started fading out and the 25th Joe line hit. Sideshow pulled me back in with their Star Wars line, but then I got rid of them all. Came back to SS when they got the Joe license. Only pick and choose from SS, but with the recent slow down in 1/18, I've gone back to customizing 1/6 characters that are my favorite's. Did a Sam Jackson Nick Fury, but he'll get turned to someone else as the Hot Toys Avenger's fig is on pre-order. Here's a few wips. Will Smith from I Am Legend, random Resident Evil STARS member from the movie, and Metal Gear Snake. Second pic, Deadpool, Wolverine(old Marvel Studios fig), and Nick Fury.

i haven't made sideshow quality arah characters, but i have a large portion of the ones hasbro produced and i like to modify them. also i like to take the better articulated 12" joes and tweek their gear to make "custom" characters.
