i have to agree. i've picked upa few issues and i am largely unimpressed by them. It seems like they take FOREVER to get to a point and the insane amount of ads (which is probably one reason why it takes so damn long to get to the point of a story) and the cost of the comics just puts a mondo hinderance on wanting to follow the series. reduce they ads (to almost nothing i mean christ WE pay for these damn things so ditch the commercials or make em free) lower the price and GET TO THE FRACKIN POINT ....what is this the DBZ version (anyone who has seen the toon will get the referance) of the comic world?

I'm a big fan of IDW's reboot. It was time for a new continuity. Yes it was slow but it's picking up.
I gave up buying the individual issues in order to buy the trades. I'm not sure if I'll buy the Origins Volume 2 trade though. Issues 6-10 were a HUGE disappointment after Hama's first 5 incredible issues. |

LOATH IT. Too slow, to sci-fi, too many needless new characters, I could go on and on.
the cobra set was great though, the rest? Garbage imo. |

It had just about lost me, but I gave it one more try with the last issue. The one with Tripwire and Beachhead. I actually enjoyed that one more than any of the previous issues.

I wish 'em well, but I'm essentially "over it". I remember joking, back in 1994, that it would be odd if GI Joe had kept going and all the characters would eventually be re-booted due to age. Like having Snake-Eyes, Stalker and Stormie all meet in Desert Storm. I said it would've been a "crisis of infinite proportions".
When the new books came out, I wasn't crazy about 'em, but kept up with them for awhile. Then I remembered what I had thought back in 1994...and suddenly felt like a sucker for dishing out money for something I never intended to read or follow. I wasn't personally vested in the characters and just didn't care what would happen to them. So for that reason I dropped the books and I've been okay with it.

Origins and Cobra runs have been good. The main line is trying to be epic, but I think they would have been better served following Marvel's outline: start small with exciting stories, and build the characters as you go. Too much character development at the outset. Larry could teach you a lot about Clutch or Breaker in a single frame - not an entire comic just spinning its wheels about how to take apart a box!

Nope, I love long drawn out stories, and intrigue. I'm really enjoying it. Though I can definitely see how it wouldn't suit everyone. The Cobra miniseries with Chuckles is the best Joe I have ever read.
