G. I. Joe is a franchise owned by Hasbro and it has made millions since its inception in 1964. From G.I. Joe: America’s Movable Fighting Man to the 30th Anniversary figures, the franchise lasted this long because of you and me; The Fans.
And this is where the Live Action Movie came in. Like every franchise G. I. Joe too had its ups and downs. Not necessarily saying the 1st Movie was a flop, but majority of the critiques (including most of the fans) never actually liked it in the first place.
This is why the popular online movie magazine; Moviefone has posted an article explaining the importance of the upcoming 2nd G. I. Joe Live Action Movie; G. I. Joe: Retaliation to the fans and vise versa.
Why single out this specific article? You can read “Why ‘G.I. Joe: Retaliation’ Brings Hope to G.I. Joe Fans“ at Moviefone to findout exactly why, my friend! After all “Knowing Is Half The Battle”.
HISSTANK’s Live Action Movie Discussion Board is open for you all to discuss your thoughts regarding the upcoming movie. G. I. Joe: Retaliation is currently being produced and is scheduled to be released on 29th June, 2012. Sit back, relax and enjoy the ride!

Interesting article. The author makes some good points about why the sequel should succeed where ROC didn't.

Good article thanks for sharing. The author mentioned: "From all accounts, this second G.I. Joe film will disavow any knowledge of the first movie." That would be fine with me, however I would be suprised if they skipped continuity with the first film. I wouldn't complain, i'd just be suprised. The casting announcements of characters and actors sounds pretty cool so far. I'll be interested in seeing a trailer with a little story direction. Hopefully they won't reveal too much OR edit the trailer in a way that it's a little miss-leading when you actually see the movie. I thought they did that well in the Third Transformers movie, some of the edits and lines from the trailer were in the movie, however were in a different context so it didn't turn out the way you expected. It leaves some room for suprise. I look forward to seeing it! Now if it can just emphasize A REAL AMERICAN HERO, i'd be grinning from ear to ear!

I agree with everything that guy had to say, I tried to like ROC I really did but I hate it. Shit just the casting alone along with the number of Joes that keep getting added to the roster has me more excited for Retaliation than I ever was for ROC. Then you have the excitement that Chu, Reese and Rock have for the project and I really believe we're in good hands here, I can't wait.

^^agreed.

I have one concern with the number of characters being introduced in this film...... hopefully the quantity of characters doesn't take away from the story. What I'm meaning is, don't fill the movie with all the individual character stories.

They can bring in all the popular characters they want to, they don't all have to have lines to say. Just get 'em in the frontlines kicking some ass. Let's see the Joes we know and love in a all out battle scene.

That was a very well-written article, I thought.
I've defended RoC numerous times. I didn't think it was quite that bad, but I did try to watch it again the other day while at work, and the acting was pretty bad, all-around actually, IMO. IDK if it was the script, or what, but the more I watch it, the more it reminds me of the Starship Troopers movies -- kinda fun to watch but cheesy and forgettable. And I think we wanted a little more than that from a GI Joe movie. Especially since, as the author of the article pointed out, there are some really rich stories from the comics. They could have gone in one of several directions from the comics alone. But enough about that; we've made glue out of the RoC topic. I just thought the article made sense and basically put my feelings into words.

Totally agreed Krooklyn, those parts were really boring in Rise of Cobra, I am not so interested in what happened before as much as I am interested in the now.
The article is mediocre writing, nothing I haven't heard in the forums on the tank. The guy states the obvious bad marks but doesn't highlight the good. Which I might be alone on this but I enjoyed a handful of parts in Rise of Cobra and am dissipointed with them not carrying over.
Just dont throw out the Christopher Eccleston and Marlon Wayans with the bath water.

Am I the only one that read the article and didn't actually see any reasons why Retaliation will be better for the fans of the franchise? Sounded like a lot of opinion and conjecture. I'm starved for actual reasons to be optimistic for the sequel because ROC left a really bad taste in my mouth... nothing in the article sounded like a good reason. "Jon Chu's direction will be better because it couldn't get much worse than ROC" isn't a reason to be excited for the upcoming movie. "The script will be better than the last one because the guys working on this one worked on a movie about zombies and are currently trying to resuscitate another Marvel character" isn't a reason. RZA being in a movie isn't a reason to look forward to it. An aged Bruce Willis does not instantly make a war movie awesome (see Tears of the Sun).
Am I missing something?
