IDW Publishing was present at the Chicago Comics & Entertainment Expo(C2E2) this past weekend, and Comic Book Resources was on hand to talk with them. In attendance from IDW was Andy Schmidt, Robert Atkins, Mike Costa, & Klaus Sherwinski. Here are some notable tidbits from C2E2:
- The only GI Joe movie Mike Costa recognizes has Cobra La in it
- GI Joe A Real American Hero will remain ongoing starting with GI Joe #156 as long as you keep buying it
- Larry Hama has at least 1 more issue of GI Joe Origins
- According to Hasbro, Snake Eyes does not like the Yankees
- Klaus Sherwinski took issue with Snake Eyes’ look in Rise of Cobra; he thinks having lips on Snake Eyes costume is just as bad as Batman having nipples on his costume.

Haha I couldn't agree more.

I don't like that there will be a companion book to A Real American Hero. I think too much might hurt the franchise.
I mean 3 core books (GiJoe, Origins, Cobra) supported my mini series, 2 classic books (ARAH, TBD) and then whatever movie univeres books they are publishing. I just don't want them to lose fans by expanding too fast. I personally dropped origins to support ARA and Cobra becoming ongoing books and I avoid the movie books to save money.
I just hope the struggling comic market can support it, maybe these books will be helped out with iphone/ipad sales. I know their star trek books did amazing on the iphone.

Then again I believe origins still sells more than cobra so I doubt they'll be ending the book anytime soon purely on account of sales.
Troynos says
I can see Origins ending. There's really only so much can do with that book. Only so many interesting origin tales to tell before it starts getting weird.
