Those variant covers suck, and we've seen this story before. According to Hasbros bio on the Bats, they're cheap scrap foot soldiers, but DDP & IDW make one out to be a TERMINATOR!

I actually preferred the DDP version of the BAT, as opposed to the lifeless cannon fodder that Hasbro, and Marvel Universe made them out to be. DDP made the BAT into a viable threat, and it looks IDW is going the same route.
I do agree that we've seen this story before, and it'd be super swell to see more originality from IDW in their new continuity.

So, to win this contest sinking the Tuna would be a huge step. It is full of Joes, including Joes that we actually know (instead of quickly named cannon fodder). So, will they sink the Tuna?
I do like the B.A.T. as a viable threat. I wouldn't mind seeing a few of them walking around instead of just the one Terminator-eque lone threat. I do like that this show down is taking place in the ruins of Springfield and that Baroness can blame the Joes. It does seem like their fault. The Joes disbelief about Springfield has now contributed to civilian causalities. That is nice. That is a nice spin on this part of the story.
The Joes don't seem like the best of the best at the moment, because they are still being hounded, hunted, and harrowed by Cobra who is winning.

Sgt Major Haley says
Well Hawks line, opposed to Bludds line to the council, should put him in the lead no matter what way you look at it. And whos to say that there werent "known" Joes about the casualties. All we know that were on the Tuna, were Hawk, Dail Tone, Shipwreck, Torpedo and Mainframe.
Big IV says
Hawk, Mainframe, Dial Tone, and Ship Wreck's death should mean more to the audience than Poker Face. Sure, in the body count, Pokerface helps keep Cobra ahead, but does the reader have an emotional attachment? Will Pokerface become the next Kwinn, as a character that has a brief moment but is fondly remembered? Will we sit around at the 60th anniversary figures are released asking when we'll get our Pokerface?
