VIPER E7:
Finally got some time to post Snake Eyes and Timber.

Here are the box pics.

VIPER E7:
Fresh out of the box.

Davestro:
Nice pics Viper...I'll drool over yours until mine arrives after Flex Pay. He turned out awesome despite all the whining over the goggles.
VIPER E7:
Here are some comparison shots of Snake Eyes and Timber.

Thanks Davestro. I might make a few changes to him, but overall I'm happy with the final product.
willworkfortoys:
Thanks for the Pics. I never had a V1 so its nice to see the comparison. I also noticed how the sword was supposed to go in fresh out of the box and then completely forgot about it by the time I got to putting in on him and just slid in between all his stuff. Looks great. Whats odd about this figure is I feel like it displays much better from the side and back with all the stuff going on than it does from the front.
PimpDaddySatan:
I'm curious how that jacket would look on the v1 doll, also I hate that skinny body on the v1 doll, I swapped mine out.
DevilzFan:
Got mine today too. He's fantastically awesome. I put the Visor head on him to test out, but he'll be straight goggles from here on out, just as Snake Eyes should properly be.

The visor head looks too big imo.

Ummm....they're "Action Figures," dude. LOL
Veedox:
Ummm. Timber looks good. Can't get past the grey head. The uniform looks too mushy - no definition of equipment... No character. Just comes off as some guy wearing all black tactical gear and a thick, black sweater jacket.

Other than the visor being smaller, and Timber, I don't see this release as an improvement over the first one.

Um...that's what the original commando version was all about!
Davestro:
Since he is all black, pics don't do him justice. SSC did an outstanding job on tweaking the v1 head sculpt. He looks menacing with that leather mask and goggles.

The jacket adds to the "winter" look of him, like when he was at his cabin in the woods with Timber. Not sure about that thin undershirt - doesn't look like it was meant to be displayed without the jacket on. I've seen some customs with the ACI military sweater on him and it looks way better.

Converted my to a Flex Pay so I'll get him sometime early next year, so can't wait. I'm getting tons of ideas for mine by seeing everyone else's interpretation.

And yeah, that first SSC version of Snake-Eyes is looking like the "teen" version now. Amazing how much taller this new version is compared to the previous. I really don't see a use for the included visor head sculpt...maybe for a custom or for Zartan as he tries to impersonate old Snakes...
jeveretto:
Got mine yesterday and love it! I was a little worried about the goggles too, but when it arrived, they looked awesome. The pre-release photos make them seem smaller, don't know if they changed them or not. If they did, it wasn't much. Still a great looking figure. Now I can't wait for Bludd!
teemu8:
pictures do not do this figure justice at all....this is a very close to classic Commando snake eyes...if you liked the rest of Sideshow Joes, don't pass on this piece

The first SSC Snake Eyes still owns! I swapped out the Body on Snake Eyes, Storm Shadows, and Cobra Commander because the bodies SSC used on the first few dolls they made were small. But put the dress attire from the first doll on a bigger body and no comparison!
MitchPower:
I don't have the first one butI am so glad I got this one like others said the pictures really don't do justice to that figure it looks a lot better in hand and I really don't see the point of the complaints on the sweater it's fine if you ask me
and I didn't had much trouble posing Timber even though he is heavy I guess some have stiffer leg joints than others
IIIzoeIII:
generic, timber looks like a giant mutated wolf, neither head looks as cool as they should at least hes not a stick boy anymore..
dorian247:
I get the standard versions of these figures at a discount from my local comic guy but he said he cant get a discount on the exclusive versions as a result I have only ever purchased the exclusive head for Rock n Roll and the cepter/staff/sword thingy for Cobra Commander, but this Timber head appeals to me the more I see it.

Hopefully someone parts one out soon then maybe I can pick it up. Overall a very good looking figure and I cant wait to get him on Saturday
Sgt Adrian:
I love it. its very nice. I have to say the googles are not as blue compared to the picts. mine are very black., so thats nice

Some adjustments I added.

- added a pair of knee pads
- some t-knives
- and picked up the original SE sword from black ops toys.
sithewok:
What kind of knees does he have? Does he have the flexible rubber knees like the CG or the ratcheted plastic knees? I've received mine, but that is sort of the lynchpin for me and no review I've seen has definitively said that yet...
the odinson:
terrible. i always thought if they made a kick ass commando snake eyes i'd have to break my sideshow cherry, (un?)fortunately passing on this creep is no problem. the whole damn thing just looks off.

I was hesitant to pick this guy up as well, especially since I have v1 Snake Eyes that Sideshow did and I really like that one. My buddy just got his yesterday and I was really impressed. On some of the Sideshow figures really seeing them in person is much better than the pictures.

I can understand for $200 if you don't feel 100% sure about buying then it may be best to wait until you have a chance to to hopefully see them in person or wait for some reviews.

I will be selling my V1 Snake-Eyes soon but I have to wait until I get my Commando Snake-Eyes tomorrow to see if I want to mix & match any of the gear.
Disrup:
Sick! i can't wait to get mine. Waiting my last flex payment to go thru.
malcontentman:
I have the V1 SE, but always thought he was a little too thin. Now V2 looks a little too thick. I want to see pics without the jacket on. It makes him look a little too bulky. Plus, Timber is huge! I still want him though.
RolandofGilead:
Can't wait for my flex payment to go through on the 25th!
Davestro:
Gotta get that Punisher War Zone "SAVES" black sweater...saw a custom on Freaks and it really makes the figure complete. The jacket looks too bulky and the undershirt too thin.
Joebern28:
After finally getting a day off and getting time to "outfit" Snake Eyes to his full potential, the figure has grown on me considerably. I took the outer jacket off and put his harness back on and in my opinion it looked better right away. The thin shirt emphasized the thickness of the figure compared to the V1. The huge selling point was all his gear. I think this is the first sideshow I've had that I can actually store all the weapons and accessories on the figure. I was really shocked that I could store the extra mags, suppressors, and the folding machine gun, not the uzi, into the messenger bag. The sight came off and folded up it just barely fit in the bag. But all in all I love this version of SE. The fact that he can take all his gear with him wherever he goes is a huge plus, no more storing the extras in the box or a drawer.

Still a little disappointed with the Timber posability issues. But I bought this for SE not Timber.
PimpDaddySatan:
I put my V1 Snake Eyes doll on an extra Zartan doll body, the muscle body really makes a difference on the V1 Snake Eyes doll. I then added the V2 Commando Snake Eyes Ammo Bag and Timber with my V1 Snake Eyes, and I wouldn't change it for the world! V1 Snake Eyes with the swapping to a muscle body is a million times better than V2. Unique glove hands, boots, his sword, better knee pads, all his harness and gear! Just my thoughts!

In other words...you really can't afford it

This piece in Hand is Great...pics don't do it justice as the same for all the other Sideshow Joes

Its got the Classic Commando feel as Snake eyes should be
PimpDaddySatan:
I believe the Commando Snake Eyes doll is pretty cool for what it is, I just think its still off, for the price point I really expected more. Pretty much all of the parts used are rehashed from previously released dolls, The head sculpt still kinda bothers me, it seems to look better than before, but I still don't think I like it. And the jacket is cool, but it doesn't feel right, I think he needed the same sweater that stalker has only black. And the knee pads, bleh. I just think when you buy a sideshow doll it should be done right, you shouldn't have to customize it with new sweaters, goggles, knee pads, etc. And the other thing is they should have just sold timber separate to bring down the price point. That said, if you don't have a Snake Eyes and you're game for spending a few extra bucks to fix this one up, then go for it!
cr0w:
Here's mine. I switched the bodies on these two and added kneepads from the Cobra Trooper to Commando SE. The V2 SE is almost all stock from the original Sideshow figure, just with the new Visor head and Stalker's boots. The original SE body works well on the Commando gear because it makes the sweater less bulky.

Davestro:
Nice...if I had the first SE I would probably do the same. The knee pads are essential on the Commando version. Hate those cloth ones.
Gundamben831:
just out of curiosity has anyone looked as SE's arms under the skin-shirt? His arms look like they are scarred from burns and his Arashikage tattoo is on his right forearm. I will take pictures hopefully tonight when I get home from work, but I noticed this when I was fiddling with his sweatshirt. It seems the only area that the body is molded in skin color the rest seems to be black plastic.
Davestro:
Yeah, I've seen the underbody and the only flash colored parts are his arm. Noticed the Arashikage tatoo, but good to know he has the burned arms and scarring. Devil is in the details!
CVdelgado:

i like the way you made him look with adding the knee pads.
CVdelgado:
does sideshow use a lot of elastic like sigma 6? do they wear/stretch out?

these both look great. good ideas.

but, if you switched the bodies, why isnt the commando one shorter than the ninja one now?
dorian247:
Hmm...ok think I'm gonna make the switch on my Snake eyes tonight. I still want to sell my version one snakes though...at some point.

I'll post some pics if I get it done as well
CVdelgado:
i'm new at the sideshow stuff, could anyone tell me if these kneepads look like they would work well with snake eyes? they look alright to me, but maybe im missing something i dont even know i should be looking for...

yeah those should work great, I personally bought the Commissioner Gordon knee pads they have been working fine for me.
CVdelgado:
awesome thanks! i saw those gordon ones as well, but this guy is in my home town, so i think i'll buy these if they look as good.
Gundamben831:
I think they look exactly the same as the Gordon one's and I wouldn't be surprised if they were manufactured at the same company, they do look pretty similar.
CVdelgado:
since i have your ear...

do these sideshow figures use a lot of elastic like the sigma 6 did? i hope not because of how it loses its elasticity over time. it looks like these kneepads do not.
Gundamben831:
no not at all they use a lot of actual strap material like on backpacks nothing elastic unless its a loop to hold the loose ends from tightening the straps. Hot toys is pretty similar too they are all made with quality stuff.
CVdelgado:
good news. thanks for that. im still not positive ill stay in the 1/6 line, i'll think ill know once i start checking out these figures in hand.

ive got a viper that should be here soon, a cobra officer and snake eyes v1 behind him. then snake eyes v2 and the crimson guard sitting in my pol at bbts.
Davestro:
CVdelgado..you'll get the fever once you have them in hand. I was a died on the wool 3 3/4 - 4" guy until I got my first Sideshow Joe (Firefly). Just setting them up is like some sort of cool 3D puzzle you can pose and equip as you desire.

I loved the Sigma 6 stuff because you could actually play with it and the accessories were meant exactly to do just that. When the first 25th stuff came out and they could hardly stand without a figure stand or hold their weapons (Duke hands...arghhhh!!!), I was a tad disappointed.

The 1/6th stuff I classify in-between - fun to setup/play and even more to display.
autobot1984:
Finally said f it and ordered it last week, arrived today. What a fantastic piece, people are right, pictures do not do it justice. Timber is somewhat of a pain to stand though. All fairness though I have had 5 minutes with it today. I had V1, between the 2 though, this was does it for me just because of the goggles, love the throwback to the toy I have had since the 80s.
Davestro:
I got my Quantum...FINALLY getting mine after delaying it and Flex paying it. Why do I feel late to the party? LOL

I just got mine about a week and a half ago too. I figured out a way to balance Timber that looks half decent. I think that it looks pretty sweet:
