You don't have to join the site. You just go there on the 15th and buy. They go on sale at noon. It is wise to get there at noon as they sometimes sell out quickly. The figures go on sale on the 15th. Only two have been re-released that you would have missed: Skeletor (in December) and He-man (in November). However, not all of their Skeletors arrived in on time so they are awaiting another shipment and they will go on sale sometime in January (but it is otherwise always the 15th). Beast Man is being re-released on the 15th, then Adora (which I'll be skipping as she is POP) and Battle-Armor He-Man will be on sale, which are the new figures.

I think the MOTUC line was the best line of 2009 personally, I have pretty much every figure minus grayskull and 200x zodak, cause i only collect classic based stuff. And i pretty much already know battlecat will be the best figure of 2010.
All the figures are just done in a spectacular fashion, i cant see the hate, because they have pretty much been handled the same way they did the 25th classic line. Updates of the classic figures, and these are all being done just how the classic figures were done, but with insanley kick ass horsemen sculpts. The price is high cause these are very limited small runs, small runs = more costs. You have a basic sets of costs, and the more you produce of a figure the lower you can make the price, and thats what mass retail chain stores do. But if your doing a very small run, the price is higher. It's how money works. But i do agree matty can gouge a bit as well cause there the only place that sells them. Web shops get them but second hand. I also get the Ghostbusters figures too there pretty much the same body as well. I'm praying for thundercats line so bad, i want it done like MOTUC... These are the most highly detailed and impressive figures I own and there's no doubt that they were the best line in 2009. I'm a GI Joe collector first and foremost, but I had several He-Man figures back in the day. If you collect for nostalgia like I do, I appreciate the fact that they use the same molds and parts like they used to. It's more true to the original. But the detail put into these things cannot be appreciated unless seen in person. The 25th Anniversary GI Joe figures were cool and they were nostalgic remakes of the originals for the most part. They don't hold even the smallest candle to these figures. The reason I quoted was to say AMEN to bringing Thundercats to this scale. I wish somehow the Four Horsemen could do them. I'd be all over it! |

I absolutely love this line as well. That being said the only figure i actually own is Merman and the reason for that is that i have never really had the time or patience to sit on the cpu and try to grab a figure as hundreds of collectors/scalpers descend upon the site flooding it and causing it to crash. I would absolutely love to get a few more of them but i always end up spending my extra cash on things i can just walk into a store and pick up rather then dealing with the somewhat hassle of online competitive buying. I love these Classics so much though that the few 200x and Stactions that i have i would trade in a heartbeat for some more Classics.

Poor Randor, i'll bet he gets that line at least two or three times a week.

I also love the MOTUC figs.
I had every single MOTU toy from it's inception to 1986. Then Joe took over as main action figure category in my toybox. Thus, they both will always have that place in my "heart". As for the modern age of Masters and Joe; Sorry fellow Tanker's, there is no comparison. MOTUC is damn near perfect. I also really like He-Ro and Zodak. I think Zodak's lack of a helmetless headsculpt is my only real complaint for the line. I rest assured the Horseman and Mattel will rectify that soon enough, though. My $.02. Thanks you.

I also don't care for He-Ro as a character at all and he wasn't in the vintage line or cartoon, even though he was hinted at (or they showed his sillohouette) in a mini-comic. He also looks out of place amongst the other figures, looking too futuristic and kind of like a buff Backstreet Boy. But his figure is very well done. You buy one, you may become addicted. They are awesome.
When I saw He-Man for the first time when the line started, I wasn't that impressed. But when you get these things in-hand, they are beautiful. Mattel puts out some crappy PR pics of their figures. Look at some people's personal pictures of their MOTUC collections . . . wow. Look at mine on the first page, even though it's not the best photo in the world, yet it's still better than most of Mattel's PR shots. |
