McDonald's Happy Meals turn 40 years old. And to celebrate they are adding 15 classic Happy Meal toys.
McDonald's*is celebrating the Happy Meal’s 40th anniversary by bringing back the most popular toys from the last four decades — so get ready to feel like it's 1997 as you open up the familiar red box to find Patti the Platypus Ty Beanie Baby staring back at you. “Since the Happy Meal was introduced on the menu, it quickly became synonymous with our brand,” said Steve Easterbrook, McDonald’s CEO, in a*press release. Easterbrook certainly isn't wrong. According to*Sense360, McDonald's sells over 250 Happy Meals every three seconds. “Today, this iconic red box creates delicious, lasting memories for billions of families annually across the world,” Easterbrook said. Included with those hamburger, cheeseburger or Chicken McNuggets meals is, of course, a toy, and from Nov. 7 to Nov. 11, people who purchase the limited-edition Surprise Happy Meal will receive one of the 15 most memorable toys. Now is finally your chance to get your hands on a Furby from 1999 — or even a 1990's Grimace figurine, if you missed them the first time around. The Happy Meal, first called a Circus Wagon Happy Meal, was introduced nationally in the U.S. in June 1979, and initially included bonus gifts such as spinning toys and erasers in the shape of McDonaldland characters. The fast-food chain now hopes to cash in on customers’ nostalgia with the reintroduction of its more popular toys. “Parents tell us how fondly they recall their favorite toys,” Colin Mitchell, McDonald’s senior vice president of global marketing, added in the press release. “So, unboxing the Surprise Happy Meal together creates a real moment of bonding with their children. We hope these toys are something that they will treasure and remember.” Here's the full list of the 15 toys, which will be available at participating locations in over 90 countries: •Cowboy McNugget*(McDonald’s): 1988 •Fireman McNugget*(McDonald’s): 1988 •Mail Carrier McNugget*(McDonald’s): 1988 •Hamburger Changeable*(McDonald’s): 1989 •Grimace*(McDonald’s): 1990 •Dino Happy Meal Box Changeable(McDonald’s): 1991 •McDonald’s Hot Wheels Thunderbird*(Mattel): 1993 •Hamburglar*(McDonald’s): 1995 •Power Rangers*(Hasbro): 1995 •Space Jam Bugs Bunny*(Warner Brothers): 1996 •Patti the Platypus*(Ty Beanie Baby): 1997 •Tamagotchi*(Bandai): 1998 •My Little Pony*(Hasbro): 1998 •Furby*(Hasbro): 1999 •Hello Kitty*(Sanrio): 2013 While you may feel like a kid again as you hold your impressive Space Jam Bugs Bunny, McDonald's Playplace is designed for kids ages 3 to 9, so avoid jumping headfirst into the ball pit. https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/mc-d...181352699.html Last edited by sbartek1974; 11-02-2019 at 03:52 PM.. |

I am so on board with this, especially through the 1993 stuff (See Hasbro? McDonald's gets it.) Now I'll just have to find someone I can trick into eating the food....

Cool, I'll send it out directly to ....Wisconsin(?). Wouldn't be the first time I put food in the big blue postal box (got my ass tanned for THAT one!)

Yup. Wisco is where it’s at. I’ll gladly take cold squished McDonalds food shipped to me in one of those yellow bubble envelopes.

Be careful what you wish for... I now have in front of me 15 Happy Meals' worth of burgers, fries and nuggets, and a 8x11 bubble mailer that is addressed to "Wisconsin, C/O Yeet". I THINK they'll all fit.
