......are they....are they going to spend all that money on tooling new molds for remaking original o-ring figures or do they still have them and it's just a matter of dusting them off?

Its got to be new tools for the o-ring figures. The last time we heard many were lost after the TRU reissues. They might still have some (Snow Job was put out in 2009) but the majority of the figures were lost.

To be fair, the Defiant was a VERY unique situation. Even the FLAGG didn't run that much because of the nature of the tooling.
But, yeah, they have to re-build the tooling library from scratch. And the fact that they invested in the new tooling for the Retro figs makes me doubt that they're going to go away for all that long. |

I'm sure tooling costs less for figures than giant space ships. I was under the impression storage cost was expensive and you always have people who want to throw away stuff without knowing what it is. Who knows for sure if they still have the tooling and if it's in good condition.

Looks like a handful of companies are proving quite capable of selling fans what they want when they want them. |

How fucking hard would it be to give us 4 ME figures a year anyway? It's not even like it was a full line

But, we are sick & tired of Duke, Cobra Commander, Snake Eyes & Storm Shadow. And remember, G.I. JOE has been and always will be Hasbro?s red headed stepchild.

Really though, they have released like 4-6 SW retro figures per year for the past 3 years. They could do this with ME joes, you'd think.

My guess is Hasbro - like every other hard goods producer who has relied on big box retail and global supply chains for half a century - is in a bit of a crisis right now given how much the pandemic blew up everything, from the cost and availability of materials, to the cost of labor, to the stability of global trade, to the future of brick-and-mortar retail, to Amazon, to the nostalgia-craze driven by suddenly aging millennials with disposable income, to freaking crypto and meme stocks for christ's sake. I think they might be scrambling right now. But hopefully they'll find their footing again.

Why, why do y?all always have to ?compare? G.I. Joe with Star Wars? As for Duke, we?re never going to get the Ultimate Duke that y?all want. The few chances Hasbro had to do it they release some p.o.s. nobody wants.
