Have you ever seen an Action and or Sci Fi that was incredible and yet virtually unknown to the general public? I'm Sure we all have and I think these films deserve some exposure. If this thread results in even one person discovering an awesome film that they would have never heard of otherwise, than It will have accomplished its purpose.
1.The assignment: Donald Sutherland, Ben Kingsley, Aidan Quinn http://www.coverbrowser.com/image/ge...vds/2626-1.jpg This is one of the most badass secret agent films I've ever seen, the action sequences are well done, the film is gritty and realistic and the best part is, it's actually based on a true story. 2. Nemesis: Olivier Gruner, Cary Hiroyuki Photos from Nemesis This is technically a low budget B movie, however it is hailed by the few who have seen it as a masterpiece. Used copies of the DVD go for $60. Its a dark, gritty film about cyberneticaly enhanced mercenaries, corrupt global conglomerates and underground resistance groups who are connected to Asian drug cartels. Just when you think the film is over, it just keeps going on and on, but your happy about it because its like one those books that you don't want to end. 3. Swallow tail Butterfly: Japanese film [KFCC] Swallowtail Butterfly Review This movie blew me away when I saw it, It took me years to find a copy on VHS and years later to find it on DVD. It's a story about people trying to make ends meet, the Chinese Mafia, two of Japans deadliest assassins working freelance for the C.I.A., homeless kids making millions counterfeiting Yen, Frank Sinatra, You just have to see it. Anyway, I'm curious to see what great yet unknown films you guys and girls have to share! |

split second with rutger hauer is an excellent action/sci fi film.
the monster in it looks like venom from spiderman and eats people's hearts. and rutger's character is a total badass with fantastic dialogue. |

Equilibrium was nice, but critics didn't like it.

Split Second is a lot of fun, and one of Rutger's last good flix.
My list: Nate & Hayes -- comedic swashbuckler movie with an early perf by Tommy Lee Jones (here's a good review: forces of geek: Buried Treasure: NATE AND HAYES) Firewalker -- You can't beat the team of Chuck Norris and Louis Gosset Jr! From the now defunct Cannon that distributed some visual gold back in the 80s (trailer: ) Sunshine -- awesome sci-fi despite its dog-leg into slasher territory Night of the Creeps -- a genre twister that mixes horror/sci-fi/comedy with the great Tom Atkins. Slither totally "pays homage" to this great 80s flick. Actually, Slither is pretty awesome too. () Ice Pirates -- super silly sci-fi comedy with Robert Urich and Anjelica Huston (!) as they search for the fabled lost planet "Earth". Loved this as a kid, so take that with a grain of salt. () Message From Space -- goofy Japanese film that rips off Star Wars whole-heartedly but is super fun to watch () Battle Beyond the Stars -- The Seven Samurai in space. () The 10th Victim -- cultish Italian movie about a futuristic game of assassination (with Marcello Mastrioanni and Ursual Andress). () Danger: Diabolik -- you've seen the Beastie Boys video that lifts an entire scene shot for shot from this movie. Spy hi-jinks and a naked lady rolling in a bed of money. Yeah! ()

This was an awesome movie and Christian Bale blew me away.
Also although not a movie, the Firefly series never got its due either....
