This movie stunk more than Beast Man's balls!
I was such a huge He-Man when I was a kid. I had about 30 action figures, Castle Greyskull and Snake Mtn. My parents even watched the show with me after school. I was so hyped to see this movie and then about 5 minutes into it I was so disappointed. The first red flags to pop up as the film began are as follows: #1 The castle looked nothing like Greyskull. #2 No Battlecat/Cringer! #3 No Tri-Klops, Trap Jaw or Mer-Man! #4 No Prince Adam. #5 No Orko, instead we got fuckin' Gwyldor! #6 Teela's costume. WTF? I did like Frank Langella as Skeletor and thought he would take command of the film, but then....they came to Earth. As soon as Skeletor's henchmen (none of them being characters we knew of) went to a high school gym to get the girl who worked in a rib shack who had lost her Mommy & Daddy it lost me. I was barely 8 years old but it still pisses me off to this day! I hope the new Joel Silver produced 'GREYSKULL: Masters of the Universe' film will be faithful to the characters. I understand the original mini comics and the 80's cartoon had story differences, but I hope they take the time get it right. From what I've seen of the script they have it's at got Battlecat, Man-at-Arms, Teela, Skeletor, Panthor, Trap Jaw, Beast Man and Tri-Klops and Evil-Lyn so it should be what we deserved over 20 years ago. My cousin and I just had an extensive talk about this last month. When the movie came out, I was very dissapointed because it was so different from the He-man I know and love. I watched it thinking "this is NOT masters of the universe!" Where is Battle cat?that's beast man? WTF?!! So I recently rewatched the film, now, with the benefit of 34 years of life under my belt, and a better understanding of the limitations and challanges of adapting a cartoon to a film. It wasn't nearly as bad as I remembered, it still wasn't a great film by any means, but it was very entertaining and had some cool moments.

You know the real telling point of the MOTU Film was even as a kid I thought this movie Sucked horribly. Not a single character was portrayed correctly.
DID he EVEN say "By the Power of Greyskull"? And where the heck was Battlecat? I nearly walked out when I saw this in the theater and I was only 12. Little Known fact though.. The Actor that Later played Tom Parris in Star Trek Voyager got his start in this movie. SO I guess its a good thing Kids today Don't know much about the GI Joe Cartoon we loved or they might hate the movie too.

I saw this again from a fresh perspective and I actually like it a lot more now that I did back then. If it was called something else like "Muscleman from the Future" I think it wouldn't be a bad He-Man movie but more of a fun B movie.

This movie sucks gloriously.
I still have a soft spot for it.
