Jack's joker doesn't even look like a clown he looks more like a mime next to Heath |

My five-year-old just spotted a picture of Heath Ledger's Joker while I was reading reviews on-line and she thought it was too scary. I really hope I can talk my wife into seeing this one.

Saw it this morning definitely awesome.
Although the ending felt a little flat to me. |

This movie was phenomenal. It actually surpassed my rediculously high expectations for it.
Heath Ledger and Aaron Eckhart are beyond perfect as the Joker and Harvey Dent. From the first lines they deliver they hook you in. And there definitely need to be some best supporting actor nods here. Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, and especially Morgan Freeman are lights out. And did anyone elses' theater have Joker henchman give out stuff at their theater? Someone at the 12:01 show I was at won what I am assuming was a lithograph or a poster.

Just saw it last night. I'm sure I'll get tomatoes thrown at me, and don't get me wrong, i liked it, but i don't know if I'd actually call it "Great."
Might of had something to do with the amount of hype/expectation that i had personally built up for over a year now, but when that happens the result is inevitable. I thought it was good tho. A bit too long, although it was 3 AM. when it ended and it seemed at points as if everyone was just running around chasing each other..../repeat.../repeat...... Christian Bale's Batman vocals seemed a bit over the top. I thought it was funny when Bruce as Batman was talking ALONE with Morgan Freeman, but yet still disguised his voice. *I'm saying to myself...he knows it's you Bruce!! No need to do that.* BEST part about the movie tho was the Joker IMO. Practically flawless performance. From the quirkiness, the mannerisms, the multi- personalities, the darkness, the humor and so on, it seriously couldn't of been better. I can't get over how well Heath pulled it off. IRREPLACEABLE performance. Such a scroungy, diabolical and evil character, just like the Joker should be. I thought that the way that they ended with the Joker tho was a bit odd. It seemed as if Warner Bros. wasn't sure how to handle it. Maybe thats just me, but I got the impression that.........***SPOILER*** They didn't want to kill him since that could be somewhat touchy, but yet the last you see of him he's just hanging around....literally. Does he get taken into custody?!?! Does he somehow get away?!? I guess it's left open. I thought that if they did kill him off, they could always bring back the character as a "Copycat" Joker which would fit into the scenario and be realistic. Anyone know if that's how the movie was originally going to end with the Joker and they just stuck with it? Or altered it because Heath died? I had heard a ways back that he was supposedly taken into custody, went to trial, but then let off on some sort of technicality. I suppose that was just a rumor. Also.....Yes, the pencil trick was in the movie....GREAT scene!! Last edited by Sysiss; 07-18-2008 at 03:12 PM.. |

I just got back and I thought it was great awesome what every else you what to say. I will be seeing it again. I took my 10 year old and he loved it also. But it is not for the little kids at all. My 5 year old was very upset but I guess mommy will take him to a kid movie to make up for it. I think it is a must see.

This movie was awesome. At this point, its hard to say if its as good as Begins, but its definitely on par. Everything that might seem too off the top in a comic derived medium was explained with logic in this one. You won't really be scratching your head with this movie, the technological innovations are explained with logic.
Ledger was great as Joker. Inevitably people will compare him to Jack Nicholson, Ledger was definitely a more believable and more psychotic Joker. Though not based on "The Killing Joke", the Joker's mentality is definitely similar. Ledger did not dissapoint at all. At the end of the day the big question is, was Jack Nicholson's Joker more comedic due to the script, or the actor? I think it was the script, as both Nicholson and Ledger are credible, great actors, and the their portrayals of the Joker both are in tune with the different directions of the Nolan films, and the Burton ones. Great for their respective roles, but I definitely think Ledger's Joker is the best one. Unpredictable, and able to go from joking, to unpredictably serious, to back again. His mannerisms were impressive, and while Burton's film portrayed a more comedic Joker, Ledger's Joker is definitely delusional and crazy. The new batsuit is actually more noticeable on the toys rather than the movie itself. Its hard to tell what suit he is using, as he does switch slightly after the beginning, but while in movement you can't really tell which suit you are looking at. For safe measure and those of you confused like me, he uses the new suit after the first battle. The suit serves a purpose rather than a new look, its made to be more slimmer and lighter, as to not drag Bruce down since the Begins suit weighs more. The drawback is that the suit is more prone to bladed weapons. The batpod was awesome, great in execution. Too bad the toy does not accurately depict the launching gimmick. The new actress that played Rachel Dawes did a far better role than Katie Holmes. Much more believable. We begin to see hints of Bruce's paranoia emerge, this probably drew from the comics as he has gotten paranoid before(OMACs anyone?). The ending left everything open and fortunately, with no cliffhangers. Cliffhangers are good at times, but sometimes make you feel like you are not watching a complete movie. If there is a 3rd one, I wonder who he would fight? The main thing I did not like was Bruce's exaggerated voice as Batman. There is a distinct difference, and it seems forced. That was about it. Oh and the fight scenes are much easier to decpher than in Begins, this time around its a lot easier to tell what is going on. Kudos for that. Now I hope Mattel makes a Batpod for their movie masters line. Oh advice too, don't drink til near the end. The film is over 2 hours long and the pacing is quite good so it doesn't drag. However if you go on bathroom break you might miss important parts, and there are good twists that can be missed if you leave just for a few minutes. Best Batman film ever? Quite possibly. |
