I just got back from seeing it today. I had some expectations for this movie and they were fulfilled completely. All this year, I've said Iron-Man was the best movie I had seen....Dark Knight just surpassed it. It was like watching an action movie that got intertwined with the first Saw movie. Definately had some horror movie moments. The twists were mostly unexpected, but even when I had figured out what was gonna happen next, I still wasn't disappointed to be proven correct. I wish I had my camera phone out when Joker came out of the hospital as I'd love to have a picture of that scene
BTW, My girlfriend now feels vindicated hearing what people are saying about Bale's "Batman Voice". She's had issues with it since the first movie. It seemed to get progressively worse thoughout the movie. He starts to sound like a death metal singer. |

I saw this movie this afternoon, and it was great. The above posts sum it up pretty nicely, but I'd like to second a few things.
Ledger and Eckhardt are perfect for their roles. I wasn't too excited about the Bat Pod before the movie, but it ends up working out fery well and I think it was actually quite a nice touch. And yes, the Bat Voice is overboard this time, but it's a small flaw in a phenomenal movie.

Two-Face and Joker made this movie. I congratulate the casting director for the amazing choice of actors. For Heath Ledger and Aaron Eckhart to outshine such heavy weight actors like Gary Oldman, Micheal Caine and Morgan Freeman says a lot. Great movie and I highly recommend it!!!

I think this movie was awesome! I just wish that Heath wasn't dead because knowing that we'll never get to see him again leaves me feeling sad inside because he delivered an truly outstanding performance.

Prison changes a man. That is a stepping off point. As for a possible replacement if anybody has seen 3:10 to Yuma Ben Foster could take up the spot and do very well.

I loved the movie, but I guess I was sad when it was over. Well, possibly because of what happened to Rachel...and seeing a case of what happens when true love can't survive. So sad, so very, very sad. :(
I wonder when we'll see the next film. And yes, the big cosplayer I am, I crossplayed as the Joker at Wizard World a few weekends ago. "You complete me!" Next up...Nurse Joker!

I was very impressed and I'm not a Batman/DC fan. I thought the film had a lot of depth and emotion as well as being very intense. I'd even call it more of a thriller than an action movie. Someone brought a child to the theater when I saw it and after the Joker's first scene the kid was weeping very loudly though he either calmed down later or the parent took him out. I think I'm gonna stick a pencil in the table at staff meeting on Monday and ask if anyone wants to see it disappear.
I've said before that Heath Ledger was a character actor in a leading man's body. He also had an ability that few well-known actors have: To completely disappear into a role and cause you to experience the character and not the-actor-playing-the-character. Meryl Streep is probably the best example of this ability that I can think of. I don't think this series of Batman franchise films should attempt to recast the Joker. I was also impressed by Maggie Gyllenhaal. She showed a good blend of strength and vulnerability that makes a great female character. I was affected by the scene with her and Aaron Eckhardt when they're held hostage. Very well-executed. Indeed, the tamest performance is delivered by Christian Bale, which is not to say I thought he did not do a good job. He just gets outdone by all his co-stars. But considering that cast, it must be really hard to keep up. Michael Caine? Morgan Freeman? Gary Oldman? Aaron Eckhardt? Heath Ledger!? I think this film will be a record-breaker. I can see the hype plus the positive word-of-mouth it's sure to get elevating it to new heights. It would not surprise me much if this film challenges "Titanic"'s record for most money. |

To me. As a life long comic book...perfection! I could spend 5000 words describing this thing but they will fail. Just see it...then see it again.
