That's not exactly correct:
From Wikipedia: They are also doing this with E.W. Scripps Company who owns mostly ABC affiliates. This is NOT a new thing either. The NBC affiliate I work for right now used to be partnered with a local PAX station. The ABC affiliate I used to work for in Kansas City was partnered with UPN. With the ABC/UPN partnership, they would share the building and you would have two master control operators (They physically control what goes on the air) both controlling a different station but sitting in the same room. While the NBC/PAX partnership had two different stations but PAX would air the local NBC news at 11pm What's going on here is that two networks are using their resources together, not Fox renting from NBC |

Actually.. I could care less about anything late night on NBC. I am usually playing video games at that time so it doesn't matter to me.

I work for a media firm that buys a lot of network time. Just got off a call with our NBC rep in Chicago. He said There's nothing to stop Leno from moving to another network (fox) if NBC cancels his primetime slot and doesn't move him back to the slot behind 10p/11p affiliate news. Personally I think it sucks for Conan (and probably Jimmy Fallon, too) but our director says there's no way NBC can let that revenue slide to another network even when the economy is good. Then there are the affiliates; getting killed in that last hour of primetime and the lead into local news would be worse if they lose local spot revenue after news to Jay on another affiliate.

One of the things I find very confusing is the relationship between Leno and NBC. Are they committed to him? Does he like them? It has been so skewed over the years that it's impossible to tell what is a ruse and what is the truth between the two.
One might make the argument that he doesn't like NBC but that he is doing it for the money. Isn't that the wrong approach in your career though? Shouldn't he do it because he loves it? If he doesn't like them, why else than for the money does he stick around? |

i would rather put a scripted show in that slot than another talking heads or fake reality show. Bring back Life! that show rocked and it got the axe prematurely

You just watch.
Conan will jump the doomed S.S. NBC and he will be recruited by ABC or CBS for the time slot he is in now. You just see. If NBC will do something this lowball to Conan, shit is gonna hit the fan. That and maybe a lawsuit.

Again-read somewhere of a "no compete" clause in effect for two years. Not sure he can even do that.

I like Leno, but not the new show. I think what they're doing to Conan is not cool, though. This reeks of the infamous Leno/Letterman debacle.
