What does that have to do with anything? Some idiot congressperson pushing a "resolution" has little bearing here. I'm not calling for a boycott of Italian food or halting all tourism to Italy or whatever (though from what I understand there are people that are doing so, who are just as idiotic as the congressperson above). I'm not even saying she's innocent. I -am- saying that there seems to be a heck of a lot of reasonable doubt that's getting overlooked or brushed aside in favor of "ZOMG SHE'S AN EVIL AMERICAN TEMPTRESS! BURN THE WITCH!"

do you realise how your comment does not make sense?people get killed for a lot less and at the end of the day whether you buy the motive or not ,they did not just pick amanda knoxs name out of a hat and announce this is the killer. a bright young british student was brutally slain and amanda knox was found guilty of the crime . end of. she did it and got what she deserved.is the verdict an outrage ,just because amanda knox is american?this is a hot topic in england at the moment and the majority of the british public when asked/polled by the media and so forth think that to be the case.
The theory just sounds shaky to me, overly fabricated. First off, no one's trying to sell this as some fabricated, first degree murder type of deal, right? We're assuming she's not a psychopath - it's being played up as a "crime of passion", but this is not at all your typical crime of passion. Think about it this way. Think of yourself in a situation where you discover that your wife/gf/whatever has been cheating on you for years behind your back with someone you trusted completely. Now I'm not saying you or anyone here would go ahead and murder that guy or your wife, but don't lie to me and say that those kinds of feelings don't come up. Now put yourself in the situation the attorneys are talking about. You're a guy in college with an attractive girlfriend, and you're trying to get her roommate in on a threesome. She says no, and of course you're disappointed... but angry? And angry enough to murder her? And the other girl is that angry too, and actively participates in this murder? Really??? Now again, I don't know the actual details of this case (and it kind of seems like you don't either, to be quite honest), so the prosecution's case might have been a little different than that, but if that's really what they went on, well, that just doesn't strike me as a realistic situation. Another point - it sounds to me like the British public is looking for someone to blame here, because of the nationality of the victim (and that's a perfectly natural reaction to these kinds of crimes, btw). If we're going to start making accusations that Americans are biased, I think we have to recognized that the British position on this case is equally biased.

That's not the point at all, no one is saying she's necessarily innocent, it just doesn't seem that the case was fair.

In fact, if you'd quoted the whole post you cherry-picked that line from, you'd be able to see it for the second time in your own quote. Nice attempt at taking things out of context, though. |

No, and if you'd bothered to read anything beyond that line, you'd already know that.

I live pretty close to the University of Washington where Amanda used to go to school. The feeling here is that she was not given a fair trial. She was a victim of the media. The Italian media is just as bad as the US and she was convicted before the trial started. The evidence against her was pretty thin.
