You must've missed the part where G.I. Joe is such a small part of Hasbro's overall business that they didn't even warrant a mention in the quarterly report, except to say that "Hey, there's a movie with a bunch of toys coming!"
And once again folks: Hasbro did not lose any money this quarter. They just didn't make as much profit. Given that their competitor lost $50 million dollars or so this quarter (which means the whole toy industry is down, not just Hasbro), that basically means that Hasbro is doing pretty well and playing things very smartly, given the overall economic climate. PS: Hasbro can't force Wal-Mart to carry Joes on their shelves. Wal-Mart basically dumped the line after Christmas (at least in most of their stores) and doesn't seem to be ordering any new product, which probably explains why so much of the product that was rumored to be upcoming has been shifted into other avenues. If you don't have Wal-Mart supporting your line, you don't have much chance of pulling in a good profit. That's the reality of retail in the United States. FU&%ING WAL-MART!!!!! Another reason to despise that place!

And when the largest speaks, usually the smaller ones listen and follow. And when the largest buying power speaks, the sellers listen. Doesn't make it right, but that's the way it usually works.

that's not the way business works. Wal Mart is Hasbro's largest customer -- no retailer in the world orders as much form Hasbro as Wal Mart. IF Wal Mart doesn't order, Hasbro's sales plummet.

Well I have been across this great country of ours from CA, AZ, TX, MO, OH, NY and all in between and I have seen as I am sure you have too, a whole aisle of clone wars figures in every store, weeks and months go by and nothing new and nothing sold. I go by what I see, not what Hasbro says. Besides, 47% down doesnt leave much at all for anything to grow let alone Star Wars. Doesnt matter that I am a collector or otherwise.
Why you gotta pick apart this anyway??? What has Hasbro done for you? What you have seen across the country is still nothing more than anecdotal evidence, and thus, useless.

really? thats weird cause i have seen more joes at K-MART than i ever have at wal-mart. maybe not nearly as good or current oens but still more of them. hell especially these days Raley's (grocery store) has more joes than wal-mart. Biggest or not if we let them dictate EVERYTHING then no changes will ever be effected..they will keep saying oh well we dont want or we do want and the rest of us get fracked.

We don't let Wal-Mart dictate to us, Hasbro does and the reason is Wal-Mart's overall buying power.
Joes is a small percentage of that. So there are more Joes at K-Mart then Wal-mart. Hasbro isn't just Joes.

Since they're not current ones or "nearly as good", I'd guess they'd been warming the pegs at K-Mart for awhile and no one has been buying 'em cause no one has been shopping at K-Mart.
