Looking at some of the PoC figures, I'm torn. They're really good figures, but they're figures of characters we've already gotten numerous times... Duke, Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow, Beachhead, even Snow Job...characters that I think already had some decent figures out as it is.
Meanwhile, further down the line we're getting a very 25th/ME-ish Low-Light, which is great, but really he's the only one that screams that kind of thing. I love what can be seen as new characters like Shadow Tracker and homages to classic figures in a way like the Jungle Vipers, but I just feel with PoC being the line that branches between RoC and most likely the Renegades cartoon stuff, it could have been Hasbro's chance to give us more ME/25th characters similar characters we didn't get aside from just Low-Light to fill in the gaps. Look at how Hasbro handled the other line, Transformers for example. The Classics/Universe/Generations stuff is basically updated versions of a lot of G1 characters. The line constantly comes back to fill in gaps bewteen TV shows and/or the movies while filling in the Autobot and Decepticon teams nicely. PoC could be that as well. Low-Light could have been joined by any Joes we didn't get... New Recondo could have been Pathfinder, new Snow Job could have been Blizzard, and so on. Either that or more new characters are always welcome to the Joe and Cobra ranks too like the already mentioned Shadow Tracker character. I guess basically what I'm saying is that while PoC is a good G.I.Joe line, it could be better without the tons of re-dos of characters we already have from a couple times before. I'm sure there have been other posts about this before, but felt I'd share my own thoughts on this and hear what others think as well. Anyone else feel this was a missed opportunity? I'm not saying we should go back totally to the 25th/ME stuff, but Low-Light shows a great way of modernizing a character, while keeping them very close to their original appearance. |

If it was more 25th, than it wouldn't be POC. I understand what your saying about the same figs, like 3 more SE's.

i agree, i'm real 50/50 on poc. so far 2 waves and i've bought 3 figs (av, bh, ff). i'm very pleased w/ all of them and am thrilled that new joes are being made. you're right, character selection could have been better and even assuming they've gotta make more dukes, ss, and se, they could have been done a lot better.
everyone seems to dig poc, so hopefully folks will keep buying them and we'll get more good stuff. it's no 25th line, but i'll take what i can get. |

From photos shown, Low-Light is not entirely accurate to his vintage figure, but he's modernized version done right. Still maintains a similar enough look to where he looks perfect. I just feel Hasbro should have incorporated more Joes into PoC we haven't seen recently into it. I'd love to see updated versions of Airtight, or Jinx, or...anyone that isn't Duke or Snake Eyes. If you have to have a version of them for the kids to buy, fine, but not in every wave. O_o |

while i understand your motivation, i'd have to say that POC has tremendous, tremendous staying power. we are not going to see the end of this line. there will be gaps in between, but it will NOT disappear after 4 waves - i don't care what anyone says.
it's not happening, people. just sit back and enjoy the products. as for re-hashing characters, that's just the nature of the business. they are still trying to pimp out the core cast so that the new generation can latch on - if that's going to happen at all. |

POC is what ROC should have been. They tried to do something different with the way the figures looked due to the reactions to the ROC stuff which shifted that opinion of Hasbro's to some degree. This is also a filler line, they wanted the collectors and troop builders and the mainstays out there who continually buy joe product in non-meida tie in years to keep doing so. It keeps the revs going. The whole reason Low-light even might make it in (I say might because if they screw up at retail again we may not get to him till late 2011 in regenades if at all due to peg wamrin goverstock) is for those 25th/ME people who would write joe off completley if they did not release at least ONE new figure. Same with the Sarge, look at the movitavtion to do that, they knew without a doubt he would sell due to the card art alone, being 25th/ME styled, and he fits right in with those peoples' collections. ROC did not give them the grounds to do that nor the means, the 25th/ME line did that for those figures. ROC didn't even have those characters in the show so with the non-existant new kid fan base out there of ROC even with those who liked it, they would not even know who the Sarge or Low Light were nor care since they were not in "thier movie".
POC needs to continue to evolove and give us more of what we got from the 25th/ME character sets and even more so along the lines of new renditions of the figures we DID NOT get from 25th/ME just like Low Light. I now they have to keep popular characters around due to retailers' demands but they definetly need to get us more chances for new chacaters or ones that have not been done ever since the 80s, like more then once a year? Too bad renegades is going to blow the molds up again and change everything down another path to end up along side the new ROC 2.0 stuff for the first time with 2 toy lines at the same time. My only hope at this point is that ROC 2.0 moves along the lines of POC and influenced by that design team way more then Paramount dictating to Hasbro how to make the toys due to onscreen looks they felt were so neccessary to change... |

If Hasbro changes the mold radicaly from PoC they have to know what a risk/loss they'd take. I do not think they'd simply allow a money making mold to simply vanish. They've said before, Joe is THEIR brand, they answer to no one, and if these keep making money, one assumes they'd keep making them. Look at resolute, still coming out even after the fact. Joe has always, with very few exceptions, been the brand with most tooling, and articulation, since they dont have to pay for brand name or actor head sculpt. To echo earlier sentiment, PoC is going NOWHERE as long as we buy it.

i agree too. yeah hasbro has to saturate us with an over abundance of dukes se/ss/ and such but yeah recondo could have been pathfinder, snow job could have been retooled to be either blizzard or even better i would have liked to have seen a decent ICEBERG or arctic stalker. there is seriously wasted potential in this line but the line is still cool dont get me wrong but i do think hasbro missed an opportunity or several here.
Many folsk say well hasbro doesnt feel this charcater or what not is relevant...but i mean as kids growing up how would we then have even known about characters liek scooper/law n order/ jinx/crazy legs/stretcher/iceberg/Zarana etc etc if they had not been made an released?

They can do all the POC they want but just give us some more 25th Cobra Island 7-Packs. They could take care of 14 missing 25th figures if they released two new sets.
