I'm in California, in a fairly low population area (I try not to be too specific online, if that makes sense). I am aware, of course, that I'm in a bit of a bubble, and what applies here is definitely an exception. I started back in 2000 with RAHC, and never had an issue filling holes in my collection. Hell, I only starting eBaying to find vintage stuff. |

We have no ill feeling for ya Lantern. We’re just a bit tired of arguments regardless of who’s right. We’re all ready to go back to normal Hisstank so no need to pretend like you’re a newbie. Also, if you behave (don’t create a troll account and don’t drag arguments on too long) you won’t get banned even if we know it’s you.
Think about it... And frankly, I couldn't give 2 shits about what you think of anyone debating people here. You claimed eating tide pods was fake and staged, and be honest you said that because it reflects poorly on your generation. So of course you don't want to be challenged or "argue" about it, because you'd rather believe it's not true. I gave you facts that showed hundreds of idiotic kids did indeed eat Tide pods. I don't care if you don't like that. Facts don't care about your feelings. You say you're not a kid anymore, then don't act like one. Be a man and accept things for what they are. I got that set for 5 bucks with great paint apps (almost non-existent on that set) at TJ Max

Yeah it doesn’t make sense to me either. When I was a kid we had Clone Wars and the adult’s had Vintage Collection. They were both, however, the same high quality standard and in fact I look back and think Clone Wars was the better deal because we not only got a super articulated figure but also a battle game card, dice, and stand too! The Vintage Collection dudes only got an old style package!
Not just the details of the actual figure but also the presentation of the product (vintage style packaging is a great example) I’m a sucker for the Vintage Style Cards. For the 25th line I have everything carded in a Star Case as well as loose complete. If you have a “collector driven” line I think you end up with a lot of people in that situation, buying doubles of figures that are not necessarily Troop Builders. I’ve done the same thing with Star Wars Vintage Collection. I don’t think I’m alone in that regard. Then you have the price point factor. I think it’s beneficial for a figure line geared towards kids to have a lower, competitive price point. I think that better explains what I was thinking when I said “both lines”. My 21 year old son is a good example. While he agrees with me that the vintage style packaging is cool, it’s not nostalgic to him like it is to me. He collects multiple Action Figure Lines (mostly 6”) and he almost immediately opens anything he buys. There’s not much interest for him in keeping anything carded/boxed.

Yeah I like vintage cards too, but that wasn’t my point. My point was that the kid’s line (Clone Wars) was not dumbed down at all. They had lots of small accessories, proper articulation, proper scale that fit in with the other lines, and had sculpts that realistically reflected the source material.

Problem is that can't be replicated without a successful media tie-in, of which Joe does not currently have. Given the continual re-emergence of the "old" and the amount of content providers clamoring for content, it's amazing there isn't a demand (no matter how slight) to have some consumable Joe media.

And if that is an issue from Hasbro's standpoint, but we can cause a smaller based business that makes action figures to boom then why doesn't Hasbro give one of the smaller action figure producers the rights to produce a new and improved Joe line? I mean, we see Marauders piece together Joe look a likes and they sell like hot cakes.

On the subject of there not being enough of us "old guys" to keep a retail line running:
I've been collecting (again) since PoC, and every time Joes were at retail (in my area at least) they sold through relatively quickly. Army builders and "classic" figures (like the ARAH remakes in Renegades) sold in a day, the rest would sell in a week or two. The only problems were when particularly bad/weird figures would clog the shelves, and I'm 90% sure that was mostly a Target single DCPI problem (arctic destro, the Rock figure with the weird hand, etc). The only other stuff I saw hang around were the vehicles not too many people wanted, the $12 ice thing in PoC, the 12th AWE Striker from the second movie. How well did Joes sell where you guys live? Cause if there are enough of us around to move 80% of the figures and 50% of the vehicles in days, that's pretty damn good, I'd think.
