Hey everybody, with the retail presence of G.I. Joe essential done for the foreseeable future, I was reflecting on the 25th anniversary, POC, Rise of Cobra, Retaliation, etc and compiled a list of all things I can't believe Hasbro did or did not do over the course of the line. Of course, these are all minor gripes and this is all in fun. Feel free to add your own to the list. Let's begin.
I can't believe Hasbro... 1) Didn't give us a single carded, modern era, classic Cover Girl, . It was released by the club, and now the figure is in high demand. This really should have been a retail release. Apply this logic to the figure/character of your choice. 2) Didn't give us a dress uniform body/buck to reuse for General Austin, Flagg, Hawk, Hollingsworth, etc 3) Tried to sell us Blowtorch 3 times with only minor paint differences. 4) Didn't make a white suit wearing formal storm shadow for the ROC line. There have been some great customs using the Face body from the A-Team line. 5) Didn't include bladed tonfu weapons with snake eyes in the ROC line since this is the weapon he defeated storm shadow with in the film. Thankfully, FSS Jinx fixed this problem. 6) Didn't make multi packs of individual troopers. but gave us the Defence of Cobra Island 7 pack which made it difficult and expensive to troop build any of the figures in that set. Alley Viper, Night Creeper, etc... 7) Gave Major Bludd limited articulation in his arm as a "tribute"... 8) Retooled the Skystriker for only a single figure, instead of two. 9) Made finding the 5th set to complete the MASS device so difficul to find at retail, leaving so many with incomplete MASS devices. 10) Sculpted one of the worst heads I have ever seen for the first Modern Era release of Spirit. Post your own "I can't believe Hasbro..." thoughts and opinions. The Defense of Cobra Island 7-packs were plentiful at ROSS the year after that got released through online retailers like BBTS. I got about ten sets from ROSS for like $19.99 each I can't believe Hasbro just hasn't released everything they teased us with from the 2012-2013 Concept Vault at JoeCon. If they put the remaining unreleased figures and vehicles out as online exclusive it would make money for them. Too late by now since all the things that were shown is like six years old by now.

We don't have Ross stores in Canada - ha ha.
I think all of my Defense of Cobra Island sets and figures were purchased from online retailers and at toy shows, definitely never saw any at retail here. I just love troop building - ha ha. |

We don't have a Ross around here but Ollie's also had both sets around that time. I had just gotten laid off from the post office so I only bought one extra Cobra set. Wish I would've bought more but they didn't last that long though they probably had 6-8 sets at the time. Wish Ollie's still got good stuff (cheap) like that.

I wish I knew that Ross was even going to carry any Joe items, let alone the significant number of exclusive ones they did. I didn't learn about this until years too late, when I could only find the items on the secondary market, often for substantial markup.

I can't believe Hasbro hasn't dipped their toes in Kickstarter. I guarantee if they launched a WHALE kickstarter a number of us would put our money where our mouths are.

I don't think the big corporations are a good fit for Kickstarter. I'd rather see something along the lines of what Mattycollector.com did with the Castle Grayskull set and build to order. Hoping the club ends up like this as well, where you can order the full subscription or take a chance and cherry pick as they were released until they sold out.
