Target has an 8 figure Avengers gift pack that has all the major players: Cap, IM, Thor, Loki, Fury, Black Widow, Hulk, Hawkeye
Marvel Exclusive Action Figures - The Avengers, ... : Target On sale for $45. Regular price of $49.99 That's $6.25 a figure. Great deal. Why does Retaliation need this? This is a great way to get someone into the line quickly and fairly cheaply, compared to buying all singles. A mother, looking for something for her kid, would be more willing to spend the $45 on 8 figures instead of 4 or 5 regular priced ones. More value for her cash, she'd figure. For the kid, it's an instant collection. 8 figures ready to be played with. Want to get the kid into the line? Make them want to buy more singles and vehicles? Give them 8 figures at once. The incentive to buy more is greater. Retaliation could include: Roadblock, Duke, Cobra Commander, Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow, Firefly, Cobra Trooper and Colton or a Red Ninja All the major players from the movie. All the big names. Cut down on the accessories, no extra head for Firefly. Also be a good way to get Wave 1 figures back out without getting more Wave 1 on the pegs (if there isn't already a ton sitting in warehouses on single cards). Seems like a good idea. Good bang for the buck. |

You would think it would work...but nobody wants to play with GI Joe. :(
Naw, but seriously, if GI Joe could be as big as the Avengers and Transformers, I can see it working. And if GI Joe could be marketed like the Avengers are marketed... |

They really don't, because these sets don't do very well until clearance time. Besides, you've seen this kind of example before during the RoC days and earlier. The Target Rescue 4-pack with SE, Duke, and two Neo Vipers is a great example of a quick pack for parents to get kids and didn't sell very well. Same with the Ultimate Battle Pack before it which had even more bang for your buck included.

Not news or rumors
But I REALLY disagree in using wave 1 figures. Hasbro said they were done quickly and are clearly not movie accurate. In this case, I'd say movie accuracy is a greater factor than simply the characters. Personally, I'd rather they split the Retaliation concepts into TWO sets: The Second American Revolution with Roadblock, Flint, Lady Jaye, Joe Colton, Duke, Firefly, Cobra Commander, and a Cobra Trooper. Arashikage Legacy with Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow, Jinx, Blind Master, two Red Ninjas

my son has that pack, they are fun to play with and they have some nice head sculpts but they are not a POC or even ROC quality of action figure. I could see Hasbro doing something similar to a 7 or 8 pack of the DG Joe quality figs. I wish they would sell a 8 pack of the DG cobra troopers or the next generation green commando shirt Shipwrecks ( Joe trooper). DG Joes are $6 a fig, $6 X 8 =$48. or how a bout a $30 - 5pack.

I like this DG troop builder pack, or hell any DG pack. We don't have DG here in Oregon so it would be a nice, cheap way to pick up some of these figs. I bought the Night Watch pack some years ago off a peg and it was cool having an instant little squad without having to hunt for single cards. My son inherited them and he likes them too because he can fill up a jeep or truck with them. However, kids would probably prefer a 6-pack with half cobra troopers and half joes.

The idea is good, but i don't think it would work.
A mom would likely say "45 bucks is a lot for a bunch of toys", then it'll grab a cheap Corps 3pk of 2-3 bucks. She will not think on how much a figure will cost and save cash, but how much in total and for what -in this case, toys- Maybe for adult collectors could have worked before. Now i think is too late, most people have lots of wave1, they're not desirable. The whole move was terrible handled. They should have kept the toys selling, at least wave1, since they're not movie accurate. Then the movie is out, and release the new movie toys. Simple.
