A friend and I were talking and he mentioned that hasbro is going to slow if not cancel the modern era line completely for the movie toys i was curious i thought hasbro was going to continue the modern era even during the movie. maybe its just me but i thought the 25th/modern era was too strong to cancel for the movie that no one seems to be looking forward to. anyone know the answer?

therea a ton of threads for this topic but yes the line is going on what they call a (pauses for insidious laughter) "Hiatus" while the movie toys are pushed. They're supposedly coming back after the movie...but i wouldnt hold my breath on them being the classic stuff but more movieized versions of non movie characters.

Well, the waves 12 and 13 are mixed with resolute so thats a good indication of the continued 25th. With the way things are selling and the demand of these 25th line, Hasbro is most likely to mix it up to comply with such sales and demand.

I would imagine that Hasbro will keep the 25th line going in tandem with the movie line. Granted, the movie figures will make up the bulk of the figure waves, but I still think there will be a few 25th figures thrown in. Perhaps not in every wave, especially the first couple of waves after the movie comes out, but we'll still see them. Hasbro will want to keep our appetites wet for them. If the last few joe lines before the 25th series were able to keep selling, then there is no way the 25th line...Modern line won't continue.

I need a damn break. $60 per wave, $30-60 per vehicle wave, TRU exclusives, special sets (Arctic/Desert), DVD packs, etc. My damn "gotta get 'em all" mentality is killing me here. (I missed so much of the original line (and lost/broke way too much) that I can't stand the thought of having to buy these on eBay at $30 a pop in the future) It's weird, I've collected Transformers for a few years now, and there's always a few in a line I can pass on, but this GI Joe 25th line is like crack. I just gotta have it. All of it.

It'll give me a chance to catch up. Unless the movie toys rock, in which case....
/sigh I need more money.

let's be honest, the 25th line doesn't seem to be such a hot seller now that the pegs are full with figures, so it clearly isn't drawing in new customers who are finally finding the figures beyond the niche collector base that has made it successful on it's smaller production numbers. considering Hasbro wants to widen the market with the movie line, there doesn't seem to be a need at all to have the 25th line on the shelves for collectors to buy, who would spend their money on the 25th line and not the movie line, which Hasbro deems must be successful for the Joe brand to continue to grow and gain relevance again. cannibalizing sales from the movie line by continuing the 25th line is a ridiculously bad idea for Hasbro, so I don't understand how anyone could possibly believe they would do otherwise. |

I imagine it will be comparable to the Star Wars 30th and Clone Wars lines. They will probably have movie characters that make up the bulk of the line and some type of Modern or Legacy line.
Then I can go back to ARAH so I don't care as much....don't get me wrong I love the Modern/25th, but the movie stuff will give me a needed break on finances. I can't see me getting more than ahandful of movie figs unless they blow me away. |

We still have plenty of new "RAH" Modern Era figures coming out before the movie. Wait for the latest round of G.I. Joe Q&A to be posted. Trust me, you want to pay attention to this latest round.
Wait For It!
