Instead of "waves of figures" and stores getting stuck with Arctic Destros, would a "boxed set" be a solution? There could actually be a couple of boxed sets in a wave, for example....
Wave 1 case 2x Box Set of 6 Core Characters 2x Box Set of 6 Army Builders (3x of each troop) I know single carded guys might be unhapp with this option, so have them carded individually and stacked inside the Box Set. The price of packaging would go up a tiny bit, but the overall costs of the figures could go down because of lack of overstock. The ONLY downfall I can see from this example is that ones purchase cost would be more per transaction. So Price the sets at $25 and give us 2 per month.....$50 per month spent for our Joe habit and we get full "waves".....not bad?

I don't think you could separate army builder figures completely into their own set(s) (as nice as that would be) and still have the idea be successful. you'd have to carefully mix and match the high-demand figures with lower-demand figures in order to sell through the product. If you separate out the army builders you end up with a glut of the "core character" packs peg/shelfwarming and preventing later stuff from coming along.

To me that sounds even better...1 box set per month $25-$30 monthly $300-360 annually for all of our figures! Yeah! Then give us 1 vehicle per month or varying prices and sizes, and we're done : ) (AND...This would pretty much stop scalping alltogether!)

packing single carded figures in a box...may as well just buy a wave from online
if it's at retail...it would have to look "pretty" and while i like the packaging pretty...the contents are what i'm after (even though i refuse to buy cereal in a bag...it must be bagged and then put in a pretty box) also the word "repacker" comes to mind...yeah buy a 6 pack and repack in all the arctic destros and return it...someone go ahead and start a thread about this just to get a head start |

I like the idea of troop builder box sets.
I had every intetntion of buying as many as I could of the ARAH Cobra Troop six packs. Alas I only ever found 1 set. |

Probably right...so more like 3 troops and 3 core in a single box!

I dont want core characters in box sets with army builders. A SOLUTION would be like maybe 3 alley vipers and 3 new greenshirts or 3 shock troopers and 3 jungle vipers. you can put out single carded cores and leave army builders in box sets of 5-6. putting cores into army builder packs is going to dissuade the army builders from getting them en masse as most of the folk buying them are not going to want core characters in their sets.
It wouldn't hurt the secondary market to have unwanted figures from box sets being sold on ebay to customizers and casual collectors. Hasbro sells all thier product, box stores sell of thier product, fans get to pick and choose on which figs to keep or customize. Everyone's happy....I think the majority at least.

The biggest problem with this is that it would kill off any chance of appealing to kids. A parent would be a lot more willing to buy an $8 figure rather then a $50 six pack.
