So, my Hornet and Flanker arrived today from England (which is ungodly expensive to ship from) and I'm pretty excited to share a review with you guys. I won't talk about the hornet since many of you already have customs of those. The Flanker, though, is truly a thing of beauty and seemingly a step above in sophistication for this fledgling Joe-scale toy company.
Like most Power Team Elite toys, they are not true 1/18 scale, which is good because if it was, it might cost more than the 42 pounds it took to ship both of them here! But the detail is incredible The missiles are a normal military color and well molded. They fit on the rails snugly, but not ridiculously stiff. The gear is the best I've seen on a PTE toy. They actually look like real gear and fold up into a wheel-well, instead of looking like those retractable roller skates. The paint job is a little bland, but it is weathered to look like a real jet. Unlike the other jets they make, the box was made big enough so that all I had to do was click in the verticle stabs and I was done assembling. Overall a good peace when comparing the pros and cons: Pros: Realistic missile shape and paint scheme [Almost] Ready to rock out of the box Very accurate mold of a Flanker Very detailed interior Excellent landing gear Good weathering paintjob Cons: Lackluster paint scheme Gear seems a little short in the front There are 12 hardpoints but only 10 missiles (no fuel tanks) Cockpit doesn't fit right The cockpit to me is the most frustrating thing. It kind of bows out so if you pinch it together, it lines up with the cockpit. They could have put two little tabs inside and kept it from doing that. Or they could have molded it out of something a little less cheap (the plastic feels really malleable). But honestly, it's a great bird and I can't wait to customize it a little closer to an Su-33. I'm not going to do a full conversion (I don't feel like cutting and hinging the wings right), but maybe I will later. For right now, I might just throw some canards on it, slap on the blue paintjob and call it a day!

1) People barely know about american military aircraft. And if they are fans of military aircraft, why would they buy an enemy jet? 2) If this were showcasing Chinese weapons systems, it wouldn't be called the Su-27. It would be called the Shenyang J-11, which is a Chinese copy of the Flanker. Still, hope springs eternal. And I hope that I can buy a few more from Toys R Us in the coming months to fill out my aircraft carrier project...

Cross your fingers and hope they sell them here. Some guy under a different thread said that they will be here by the holidays. He said that they're showcasing the country of origin's aircraft. There's two reasons why I think they might not sell over here:
1) People barely know about american military aircraft. And if they are fans of military aircraft, why would they buy an enemy jet? 2) If this were showcasing Chinese weapons systems, it wouldn't be called the Su-27. It would be called the Shenyang J-11, which is a Chinese copy of the Flanker. Still, hope springs eternal. And I hope that I can buy a few more from Toys R Us in the coming months to fill out my aircraft carrier project... I love your session 9. sig...at least i think thats the flick. Its something along those lines. Anywho yeah...i would LOVE to get my hands on ANY version of the Flanker.
