Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! They are just piling on the cheese aren't they? The Overdone CG work, sci-fi weaponry and now an homage to the icnoic voice? They're giving us a modern day ARAH :( It was bad then and it is bad now.
Why couldn't they have just done bad ass special ops vs bad ass military mercenaries or whatevers without sci-fi weapons but real-life weapons?! That's all I wanted. -American Joe |

So far you've assembled quite a colorful collection of epithets for Channing Tatum, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Stephen Sommers. I'm sure there are others if we dig around a bit. Forgive me if I find your claims of "always disliking them" a wee bit convenient. You probably didn't give a crap one way or another about these people until they were attached to a movie for a property you have some attachment to, and you decided you disagreed with their involvement . Maybe Stephen Sommers I could buy, but JGL and Channing Tatum haven't exactly been high-profile enough to garner any real "hatedom." Anyway, since not liking someone's acting is justification enough for them to be a "twit" I'm sure you'll agree that not liking someone's posting is more than enough justification to think they're the exact same thing. Fair's fair after all. Last edited by Jmacq1; 05-08-2009 at 10:57 AM.. |

No, Joseph, I do wanna see Cobra Commander's classic costume. Especially because it looks much less ridiculous than what you're wearing in the film.

All the corniness of the ARAH CC aside, nobody could ever hope to match Latta's psychopathic laugh.

He isn't talking about the suit. By the way I would suggest you wait for the movie and see for yourselves if it blows. Maybe we'll all love the CC incarnation in this completely reimagined Joe-verse. Then again maybe not. |

I Have no idea what you're all fussing about. I maybe dutch but i can still read and that quote clearly states that he's influenced by the voice but didn't try to copy it and then he compares that to wolverine.
He isn't talking about the suit. By the way I would suggest you wait for the movie and see for yourselves if it blows. Maybe we'll all love the CC incarnation in this completely reimagined Joe-verse. Then again maybe not. THAT is how you "reboot" or "update" or "modernize" a series. that movie OOZED trek and action. the characters looked like, talked like, and sort of resembled their namesakes. my other friend who went with us, thoroughly enjoyed it as well, and he can't stand star trek. he said that "if you changed the names of the characters and the title of the film, it would still be bad ass! it was just a well made film." when i asked both of them about Joe......"yeah, i'm not gonna waste my money on THAT movie." my point being.....it is possible to "re-imagine" a fictional universe, and still be faithful to the source material. when you see Duke in resolute, there's no question it is Duke. when CC's holographic image appears in the UN.....you KNOW who the frack that is! when a tromaville villain in a plastic mask says, "call me commander" and no one knows who is is supposed to be anyway......??

“But it’s just like how in ‘[X-Men Origins:] Wolverine’ you don’t want to see Hugh Jackman dressed up in a yellow jumpsuit like the Wolverine in the comics.”
you cannot compare a dress military uniform (with a hood or helmet) with full-body spandex. i wouldn't want to see hugh running around in a skin tight yellow and brown jumpsuit, anymore than i want to see sabertooth running around in one. it would look silly, i agree. but Cobra Commander's uniform was not formfitting, uber revealing, skin tight fabric. it was a take on a high ranking officer's uniform, with a hood or helmet. in a military action movie, why would it be so bad to see a villain dressed in the garb of a military officer's uniform with something concealing his face? but the black trenchcoat and tromaville face with clear plastic hockey mask is considered to be better and more believable? i'll never understand that......if the blue color was "too neon" looking....they could have gone with a darker, navy blue color; like the original mail-away hooded CC, or the sideshow 12" masterpiece. if the helmet seemed too over the top....i've seen a lot of fan costumes with the ole chrome dome that are simply awesome, and certainly movie worthy. *sigh* at least we'll get new figures we thought got sh!t canned. |

“I think that it’s respectfully inspired by the cartoon voice,” Gordon-Levitt explained during an interview promoting his soon-to-be-released Sundance hit “500 Days of Summer.” “But it’s just like how in ‘[X-Men Origins:] Wolverine’ you don’t want to see Hugh Jackman dressed up in a yellow jumpsuit like the Wolverine in the comics.”
Yeah, except the fact that the "cartoon" version of Cobra commander looks pretty bad-ass as far as I'm concerned. You need to know what to update and what to leave alone, obviously you can't make a film that only caters to hardcore fans, It has to be more accessible. I love the changes they made in the first Transformers film because they made sense. But if your changing things just to try and put a new and different twist on a franchise, while ignoring what makes the franchise work, then your missing the point. |

You have a good point, I was very worried that the Transformers movie would suck, and I was blown away by how good it was...I guess there is still hope.
