Kirk I thought was the worst of the new cast. His character wasnt likable at all and very unlike Shatner's original.
Duke probably shouldve been older and a veteran of the First Gulf War. Flint wouldve been a better choice for younger soldier. Hawk in this movie was fully useless and mis-cast. Hawk is really just General Flagg. He probably shouldve been written outve movie and merged with Duke. Ripcord was plainly annoying. |

I watched it on Blu-Ray today with my kids (ages 9 & 5) and liked it as much as in the theater. My daughters loved it and wanted to immediately go out shopping for some Joe figures. Fatherhood rules!

Truth...Tatum was the biggest sore spot for me...I think it is mostly his hip hoppy sounding vernacular.

The main problem is that Duke didn't get much development. Sure, he's got a lot of time on the screen, but always shared with other characters. On this movie, Duke seems to be more the kind of silent hero. The one that doesn't care a s#it about being nice or funny, he simply do his job, that coupled with little development, makes him look cold. Of course...this is "the rise of Cobra" after all, they got more development as characters Quote:
But i wanted to punch Kirk. Quote:
But in the end he's more or less (with obvious differences) like Duke. Not really interested to be regarded as cool, he simply do his job. Quote:
I doesn't matters much neither...it's not like it's a realistic army movie ;) In any case, the movie had a lot of editing. Cut scenes, swap seconds, and you'll mess it up. Just look how HD seems to switch his earring from one ear to another, or how suits and vests change from one point of view to another.

What I would really like is for this movie to be a good "background movie", a movie where I can just put it in the background and enjoy it while I'm working on other things. At this point, I don't know if it is good enough to join the ranks of 13th Warrior, Princess Bride or The Two Towers.
One thing I really hope for is that it brings the love of GI Joe to a new generation of kids. Has it accomplished that? I don't know... doesn't seem like it when I'm going to the different stores and maybe once I've heard a kid ask his dad to buy GI Joe. What's all this Ben10 stuff anywayz?

My theory is that "Breaking News" guy who has it out for Shin and Destro really, really likes RoC. |

Pretty good. Has its flaws but not as much as most people think. It's good for what it is and I'm glad that GI Joe is back.
Tatum's acting was just too painful to watch, though. Thank God he shares most of the screen time with Sienna or Wayans. John Cena should have been Duke. lmao
