Re-read the comics, the first 10 are way out there. Giant walking silver tanks that shoot lasers. Giant underground base with a built in maze of death in the middle east without any visible door on the outside. It's the US version of James Bond, instead of a suave secret agent, a rough and tumble group of secret soldiers. If the Accelerator Suit is the worse that comes out of the movie, so be it.

Bond's villians (not all of 'em, but most of 'em) would have worked good as opposition for the Joes and Cobra would have made a great foil for Bond. Bond and Joe used different tactics to accomplish the same things. And technically, Bond isn't a spy so much as he's a covert operative. Most spies wouldn't be the guys tasked with the direct action response to the threats, the whole idea of spying is to be recon and find out what the enemies up to, not to do something about it.

It didn't end with the first 10 issues, either.
Brain-Wave Scanners, genetic engineering, and bombing fault lines to create sovereign island nations spring to mind.... All sound pretty "James Bond-ish" to me. Heck, many of the concepts used for G.I. Joe were originally created by Larry Hama as a pitch for a SHIELD comic at Marvel, and SHIELD has always been heavily inspired by James Bond. |

Everythings borrowed from somewhere else nowadays. There are very few original concepts, everything is just a different take on a different idea.
I mean how many Superman and "Bad-Superman" clones are there in comic books nowadays?

the only sommers movie i found remotely entertaining was Deep rising..and that was only cause Treat Williams was pretty damn cool in the movie. The first mummy movie was good the others stunk, van helsing was a turd and Sigma six the movie will be right beside it in the porcelin bowl.

I must have skipped over the comics and cartoon episodes that depicted Roadblock or Heavy Duty as tech wizards.
