What about the other bad guys though - scalpers They'll buy up whole pegs at a time then re-sale them at toy shows, etc. for example, $15 for a new 3 3/4 figure. Those guys lessen our chances of finding figs we want naturally in the store during release waves, then make a profit on it later. I seriously hate scalpers more than any of the 3 choices on this survey. I used to buy from them, but no more, no feeding the scalpers.

For me it D easy. I think the only way I would let repacking slide is if it's something a parent repacaged and have no idea what they're really repacking and put the wrong item in the wrong box. Other than that it's stealing.

All are thieves who would have their hands chopped off in a more civilized society.

Thieves and repackers? Illegal.
Scalpers? Not Illegal. But...it is kinda dickish... No laws against dickishness. Doesn't mean I approve though either. nuff said |

repackers are the worst, because they are not only thieves, they are cowards. unlike a plain thief who isn't afraid to steal the toy in store and risk getting caught, the repacker goes all the way home, takes him time to carefully open and reseal it, then drive all the way back to the store and return it, just to save a few dollars and the risk of getting caught.
at least a shoplifter has some balls, but a repacker is a thief and a pussy. well done, your mother is very proud of you, she raised a thief and a coward. who are we kidding, only a real POS could breed a lowlife repacker anyway, so their mother's are garbage too. I have more respect for a blatant shoplifter. That takes more nerve. Repacking is much...slimier. Also, when a simple thief takes something, it's gone. A repacker returns it to the store where an unobservant/unsuspecting person might end up getting it, causing them some unpleasantness. I would feel so dishonoured if I ever sunk so low as to repack action figures that I would have to commit seppuku. May my sense of self and personal dignity never degenerate to such a pathetic state.

I'm alright with scalpers, those guys have helped me find hard to find items. Will I pay absurd prices? No, but I'll pay what's reasonable. Hell, they're the ones willing to drive all around their town, be at Target at opening hours, figuring out all the different stores' delivery schedules, etc.
I gave up on the driving around a long time ago, it's pointless with all the other OCD collectors out there snatching up all the hot items anyway, and with gas rates what they are. Think of it this way, if someone buys a CS Snake Eyes for $5.00 at a Wal-Mart in Middle America on sale and puts it on eBay for $12 + $5 shipping, but none of my Wal-Marts even stocks anything beyond wave 2, or say, Walgreens does have the City Strike SE wave, but someone always gets to it before me... at the BEST I'm looking for a $5-8 figure, but driving all around the county and wasting gallon of gas after gallon and putting miles on my car, and God knows how many hours of my time, that extra $7-8 is worth paying a scalper if you ask me. Shit, I bet they don't even make a profit if they'd figure out the math of the overhead involved. |

Honestly, I'm guilty of the "hoarding" thing, but I usually end up opening them eventually for fodder. A lot of times I'll buy a spare of a harder to find figure if I think any of his parts are useful for customs, but that's about it. I'd rather get it at a good price, instead of needing it 6 months from now and having to eBay it to get one, and spending 3x as much.
I passed up a white coat Rex the other day because I don't give a shit about the figure and selling or trading it is a huge pain in the ass. I actually bought a Best of 80s set the other day to help a Tanker help me... I'm looking to trade the Bo80s set for a Rattler, which is about the same value, and helps a Tanker get a hard to find item in return for an item that was easy to find, the same value, but hard to find now. And you know what? I can't get anyone to bite. If I were to sell it eventually, it'd not be for a profit, because I don't play that game, but it'd be maybe $20+shipping because I'm not a fucking charity... I don't eat the cost of driving around, and sometimes people don't consider that in the cost. I don't think scalpers make as much of a profit as folks on here think they do. As far as the question, repackers are just sad. All that effort and they probably aren't saving anything at all. Thieves are douches no matter what they steal, whether it's a million dollars or a pack of gum. The returns-to-save-a-few-bucks guy is just lazy, but it's more annoying than anything, I don't find it too offensive, just cheap. Hoarders/scalpers don't even rank in that same category. |

^^^This^^^ basically sums up my opinion of repackers.
But then you have the ones who slanderoulsy call our Chinese connections for Joes thieves..so maybe if they could be proven in a court of law as actually stealing then they would meet your criteria here. Stealing a toy from a department store, grocery store, or any retailer for that matter, I would have a very hard time beliving everyone on this site has not done that at some point in thier life. And other things as well, small petty things we all might just dimsiss but if your going to condemn these behaviors...judge not least ye be judged yourself yeaaahhhh holier than thouuuuuu yoouuuu are...holier than thouuu...youu knooooo not! Sorry Metallica on the brain tonight! |..| |
