I guess I just feel like if you give somebody a past then you give them a heart. Sure, it may be a cold heart but it is still a living heart. I'll give an example.....
Darth Vader. One of the top movie villain's of all time. In ANH he was pure evil. All we knew of his past was he was a pupil of Obi-Wan who betrayed and murdered Luke's father. In ESB we find out that he WAS Luke's father... sure a shock but could have been a lie to further try to turn Luke. In ROTJ we find out that it was true and not only was he Luke's old man but Leia's too. Then we see his face and he is this old man with kind eyes looking at his son one last time before he dies. The evil is gone and so was the fear that went with it. I don't know, it is just the more I find out about the past of a villain they become less evil and more pathetic. |

Except he's not a used car saleman in RoC and the Baroness wasn't his sister in the comic (her brother was a peacenik that got killed and that made her turn to international terrorism... yeah, it's as screwed up as it sounds..).
So how's it answer those questions when the movie "answers" have no relationship to the origin of the questions? I blame Duke, and apparently so does the Baroness, after all, he was in charge of the unit her peace loving brother was a member of. |

Neither. I'm using the Doctor and the new CC as seperate figures, and the new CC is not Cobra Commander but a new character whos name I don't have yet.
Serpentor left Cobra, bringing some of the personal with him (including Mindbender), to form his own organization called the Coils. The Neo-Vipers are his soldiers. Serpentor, and Mindbender, dabble in genetics (hence the nano-mite enhanced Neo-Vipers). Cobra Commander, after the "failure" that was Serpentor, no longer wants anything to do with genetics and DNA-tampering, he prefers technology. The Doctor figure is now his chief scientist (who knows not to touch genetics, everything else is fair game). I'm not sure if the new CC figure will end up being part of Cobra or Serpentor's Coils. i prefer your origin story...sounds awesome...except serpentor's coils...don't like that name much...i'll steal everything you just said...and just say serpentor took over a south pacific island and named it the kingdom of cobra la...and rules over it with an iron fist...that way cobra stays a terrorist organization...serpentor is an actual emperor of his own kingdom, and destro can actually be a weapons supplier and work for both entities...

Used car salesman that became disenfranchised with the government and began building his empire by selling Amway-like products.
I was approached by an Amway salesman back when I was a teenager, and even back then I wasn't buying what the guy was selling. He was creepy, well-dressed, generic wife with a smile on her face no matter what he was saying, and touting the amount of money he made, and that I could make if I just signed on the dotted line. I had a flashback to reading the comics when I was a kid and thought to myself "this dude is everything Cobra Commander was". It just doesn't get any better than that! ... and don't forget in the original comic, CC spent a great deal of time brainwashing and mind-controlling those that worked for him, including both the Baroness & Storm Shadow. |

uh....... former used car salesman who became disgruntled by the geegaws of governmental interference and decides to go renegade by founding a TERRORIST organization.
Cobra La and the funny looking idiot savant brother (who uses some kind of high tech ventalator like some other really bad guy we all know and love!) of the movie Baroness is not my take on things. Unlike Stephen Sommers.

i never read the joe comic...although i'm a big comic head...for me the cartoon was canon...
i may be wrong with this...correct me please if i am... i don't like CC being a used car sales man...if you look through history...the most evil and successful dictators had a beginning as military men...they didn't like the current status quo...thought themselves as being liberators and freedom fighters...power and money further corrupting them...they can take over, because they know the inner workings of the military... i just can't buy (no pun intended) a car salesman forming the most power terrorist organization...and being a military leader...capable of recruiting thousands to his cause... i like him having a military background...but the brother to baroness part...is hollywood being stupid...i like the hot eastern block spy baroness...making her otherwise takes away from her hottness...

Cobra LA Scientist if given the choice. though his comic origins were better if having to choose between the generic movie plot or the silly animated movie plot...i'll choose the silly animated movie plot.
