Back in 2000, when the first signs of Joes re-emerging on the shelves the retail climate had changed and everything had become two-packs. This is because Walmart wants things at a certain price-point. I get that.
After years of floundering... the 25th anniversary line finally brought back the 'greatness' of the line - and was once again in single packs. The single packs are about $7 a piece - still a good price point for Walmart, I think. The first year's worth of single packs flew off the shelf - and there were hardly ANY pegwarmers. Now, since early this year, the comic two-packs are taking over, the DVD packs are taking up shelf space, and the vehicles are moving very very slow. All items with a higher price-point, which was probably demanded by Walmart. The new glut of higher-priced, slow selling product has clogged the shelves and its now making it very hard to find the lower-priced, SOUGHT AFTER single packs on the shelf. Why is it that Hasbro always does this? Same old story. Line off slow - builds a bit - then gets smothered out by a glut of overpriced repaint packs. |

I doubt that these items were demanded by Wal Mart, and claiming that unfortunately discredits the rest of your position because the logic that deduced that is deducing the rest.
comic packs, dvd packs and vehicles aren't having any effect on single packs. retailers don't stop ordering single packs because the dvd sets aren't selling. |

so the gripe and or complaint you have is with all items other than single carded figures from the line overall?
i would have to inject this here...the single carded Joes are not the only "Sought after" item(s) by myself or fellow collectors. Atleast not that i am aware of.

problem is is that with the major prices increases, at least after talking with a several local collectrors i ran into at stores, is that were at one time things would be bought up quicker, with these higher prices and lack of selection of new product(thanks largely in part due to revision case) no one is buying. Since no one is buying older stock or revision stock, stores re less inclined to order more and restock less often. At least thats what I have noticed around my area.

what im sick of seeing is repaints and single carded figures available in (and yes perhaps tweaked and different in appearence/gear) 2 packs, dvd pakcs, and other multi packs. I open a single carded figure, then a multi or 2 pack comes out with that figure in it (tweaked and maybe repainted), i want the other figures in the miltis, and BAM im stuck with multiples of the same figure just altered appearence. I dont need a battle damaged snake eyes, then a timber and snake eyes, then a blue colored snake eyes, then a snake eyes with brown timber, then a commando snake eyes (2 if u opened single card then got 5 pack after). I mean this crap gets lame and wasteful!!! =D

yeah i think it has more to do with the comic packs and dvd packs being 70% rehashed characters ~ i mean, i think you could potentially see 5 Different Cobra Commanders on the shelf right now (BA, w.5 comic pack, w.2 DVD pack, Hooded single card and mass device single card (not to mention 2x in the SRO packs @ TRU and the upcoming Targat UBP and w.3 DVD pack))

So far, for myself, there hasn't been a comic pack that I haven't looked forward to getting. I have enjoyed all of them. Yes, including the comic colored versions... And heck, its 2 figures for between 10-12 dollars. Plus the comic.
