Zandar's proportions look ok to me (compare the proportions of his hands and shoulders to his head). I think it's just the hair that's a tad too poofy. Might have to reduce it in volume a bit.

Thanks, glad you dig it. I wanted to re-create Spirit in a way that he was still visually recognizable as the ARAH character, but I wanted to do away with the stereotypical elements of his costume (I mean seriously, the breech cloth and braids were pretty ridiculous, even by 1980s cartoon standards). Changed his 19th century Army shirt (IIRC, it had artillery sergeant markings) to something slightly more recent and MOS-appropriate (a faded pullover, similar to that worn by volunteer infantry/scout units during the latter portion of the Spanish-American War).
Also, updated the Zandar image on the previous page as per suggestions. |

Great work as always Zulu, wow man.
I've seen you do several versions of Zartan. If you don't mind me throwing in my two cents, the perfect balance of real world application and keeping his classic look, lies in using elements of each of your versions together. I would take the Zartan you have up now, add a black long sleeved shirt, like those tight fitting under armor shirts. Give him face paint that is part Vietnam era S.O.G. ghost and part Japanese Kabuki, in keeping with him being both a sniper and being classically trained in Budokai arts. Turn his bulky thigh pads into black gear packs for storing magazines, detonators, etc. That way you keep the aesthetic, but change the purpose of the feature. Giving him back his Sniper Rifle is a must. It makes him much more menacing. The Boots, elbow/knee pads/ body armor are perfect! If you do add a black long sleeved shirt, maybe tint the armor with a bit of green to contrast against the black shirt. Anyway man, your work inspires my imagination, so please excuse my input, I'm not trying to school the master. |
