Celebrity-Oz is reporting that G. I. Joe: Retaliation Australian Premiere is to take place this March 14th 6:00PM at the Event Cinemas.
If the info is correct, this Premiere is to take place exactly 2 weeks prior to the worldwide release date; which is March 28th. However, take this info with a grain of salt since last time, premiere info for an early UK release turned out to be false.
Update: We have confirmation of the Australian Premiere happening on 14th.
According to the site, Celebrity Guests include the Director Jon Chu, actors Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Byung-hun Lee, Adrianne Palicki and D.J. Cotrona.
The site reveals:
- Paramount Pictures is proud to present the Australian premiere of G.I. Joe: Retaliation, with special guests Dwayne Johnson, Byung-hun Lee, Adrianne Palicki, D.J. Cotrona and Director Jon M. Chu.
- DATE: Thursday 14th March, 2013

Debuts in Australia? How far America has fallen to where an American movie studio, and an American toy company will not even release a movie about an American icon stateside.
What does Australia have over America for the initial showing?
Companies need to make money to survive I understand but there is something to be said about national solidarity and pride. Open the movie in America first. Then move it around to other nations. Not the other way around.
