HISS Tank member Gyre-Viper has posted comparison photos of the unreleased 25th Anniversary Whirlwind with Recondo along with the Jungle Terror Twin Battle Gun with Range Viper from Pursuit of Cobra. The latter is one of the deluxe figure sets exclusive to Target. Despite a lack of 25th Anniversary and Modern Era products this year during the Rise of Cobra, it’s clear that the 25th/Modern Era lines are still in demand. So with that said, could the Whirlwind still be on tap in it’s original colors, as part of a future Modern Era release? For that matter, how about the rest of the updates to classic figures and vehicles that didn’t appear in the 25th/Modern Era line?

Thanks to General Joe's for some insight etc on the 25th Whirlwind.

Ok well... as you can see from the pics... the would-have-been 25th
Whirlwind is no different than/has become the Jungle Terror Twin Battle Gun.
Other than some decals, they are identical. Obviously the color is different because one is a prototype and one is not. Heheheheh.
Originally slated to come with Recondo (who as you know wandered into the Attack On Cobra Island packs instead)... the "new" Whirlwind b.k.a. the Jungle Terror Twin Battle Gun... is now packed with (wait for it)
a black Range Viper (ethnicity I mean)... and he's sporting metallic green
shoulder and shin pads... hotness. repaint heaven baby!!
both the cancelled proto and the soon-to-arrive-if-not-cancelled jungle gun
are 'stamped' 2003. Optimism holding that the other unreleased molds etc
will be used (hopefully not too ridiculously) in future lines!
anyways... here's some pics. Dawg99 beat me to in hand pics of
the jungle gun... but I figured I'd just post these up since the Whirlwind
never got itz day.

Gyre, do the lime green camo sticker come applied? I dig the concept, just not the stickers. This thing would look pretty wicked towed behind a Stinger.

This is one that should have stayed an exclusive Joe vehicle IMO. Not every vehicle can be flip-flopped to the opposite side and still work... this is one of them.
It's cool to see the prototypes, though! Thanks for the pics!
