You could always build or buy a dedicated computer running Windows 98 or ME. I have 3 computers at my desk all running into a Toshiba 26 inch LCD. The one I use for newer games covering Direct X 10-11 runs Windows 7, uses a Athlon II X4 635, and two 5770 cards configured for Crossfire. Second system used for Windows XP covers most later Direct X 7 to Direct X 9 titles, and anything that can use Physx. That one is using a Athlon FX-62 on a SLI board running a 8800GTS OC for the main graphics and a 9600 GSO for Physx. Last but not least, anything basically prior to late 2000 is handled by a Athlon 900 mhz Slot A system running a Voodoo 5 graphics card and Windows ME. Doing something basically like what I did will run you some cash, but it covers all the bases pretty well, with hardly any issues. I have enough parts around to build a "pure" Dos box also, but not really interested since stuff like Mega Race or Doom run fine in Windows ME.
Oh yeah, thought I should mention, Interstate 76-82 and Carmageddon 1-2 love 3DFX cards.

Carmageddon was pretty awesome.
Remember that game Postal? That was just insanity! I'll tell ya..it's no Road Warriors--but if you want a game with a ton of cars with guns on them, a good story, an EPIC soundtrack and alot of fun to play...Interstate 76 was seriously underated and alot of fun. |

The flame thrower during the parades were pretty epic..and the rocket launcher.."sic em!" was damn cool. I had a bootlegged copy, was there ever any "real" back story to why he went nuts?? |

GOG.com
They have about 200 old games remade to run on current systems, and most of them are $5 - $10, and at least 3 that are totally free for signing up. Fallout 2 $6 Redneck Rampage $6 Master of Orion 1 & 2 $6 All of them totally legal, downloadable, and DRM free. |
