Either way - Grown ups use grown up language was my point
Join the military please. I've done my service, and I can by first hand experience say that the worse the violence gets the worse the language will get - they go hand in hand, not only proven in many psychological writings, but experienced first hand. I think that makes you very narrow minded, bad language has its place, and can be quite effective if used correctly. What exactly do you mean by "served my country", I'm curious, no hate here. I agree up to a point with this. If offensive language can be found in the game - then it shouldn't really matter if its said during online play. People need to grow thicker skin, seriously complaining about bad language in a game? Really!? Find people you like playing with and make it a regular thing then, there are ways around it if its such a huge problem. Or just for fun, before you start the game, introduce yourself and say you will leave if someone curses (yeah XD that would work excellent right?). I actually don't use a headset and stuff myself, but I have no problems with people screaming off obscenities at me - it means I'm doing my job in the game. ------- edited: I read the whole thread now just to see where it was at. And most of what I've been thinking has been said one way or another. Grow thicker skin, block people, report people, play with just friends - its all there - or as many has pointed out - stop playing the game, because as of now and from the get go bad language has been and probably always will be included in competitive online games. I am fairly sure that the lower or lower-middle classes spend more time playing then higher-middle class people - which will show it self in amongst other things language, this is a given, a fact of life as you all have experienced. After reading all of this, it seems to me that most that complain about the language are just sore losers. If someone starts cursing me out, I usually find them - or defeat the team they are on - its easy - they get more frustrated and you get better stats - if they're not screaming your name in between the curses, you're just not doing your job in the game. Again, My main complaint wasn't the language, though it does get tedious listening to a bunch of whining cry babies and ignorant d'bags cursing at each other or screaming while I'm trying to enjoy a service I pay for just because they got killed 4 times in a row. Deal with it, don't scream obscenities, 90% of the time you're just annoying your teammates, not the person you're frustrated with. If someone gets the better of me, I learn from it. I adapt and overcome. If they do it in an exceptionally creative or skillful manner I'll likely even comment in a positive manner. There's nothing wrong with respecting an enemy who has earned it. The games I choose to play generally require a little bit of skill and strategy and good communication is part of that. I refuse to "just play something else" as I pay for the service and it should be run accordingly. Getting a thicker skin has nothing to do with it as I'm not offended, but annoyed. Having clowns use thier mic for screaming like schoolgirls, singing crappy pop songs off key, talking about their pathetic personal lives, trying to hit on a girl they will never see who is likely a guy anyhow, or call people every hateful or derogatory term in the book is ridiculous and takes away from the experience. As most of the mentioned above subjects and aren't expressly forbidden, I deal. However, I think it's pretty sad that we've gotten to the point of "everyone else is doing it so that makes it okay". Seriously? This thread, at it's start, was for people to vent about the poor etiquette used online by some gamers, and it devolved into those people being attacked for having some modicum of decency. Amusingly, I think that says volumes about the people who've posted in such a manner. As far as my service goes I served in the US Army and was deployed to Kuwait.

I never said it was.
People are more free to say what they want when they are in the safety of their own home. It happens but it is still rare that someone will just run up to a random stranger and start talking shit and calling names but online, it's a hell of a lot easier to say whatever you want to people because you wont have to worry about getting a fist to the face.
