I'm normally quiet, and just listen to the other players, some of the stuff is funny to listen and every funny after you just pound them badly because they are normally quiet. but there are times i engage with trash talking but it's normally against my friends or some unlucky fool who wants to act big and bad then i take joy into going after them

i'm tired of people using absolutely inappropriate language when my kids are playing halo or some other game on xboxlive. i tired muting the volume but then gameplay sucks.
where are these other kids parents when they are playing online? our xbox is in the living room where we can monitor there gameplay and have banned gaming systems from their room till they are older. my kids would get a whoop'in if i head them using the language i hear other kids using. it really is disrespectful and as a parent, i feel bad to have to resrtict my kids play due to the lack of parenting by others. my kids aren't even permitted to have a mic, at their age it's simply not necessary. anyone know a way to disable chat completely with xboxlive? i honestly don't know much about it really other than i play with my kids and they usually enjoy ganging up on me. what are the options in account settings to take care of this problem? i trust my kids, it's the dolts everywhere else i don't trust. i've seen plenty of my kids friends do some really stupid sh$t.

If you go into settings and change it from adult to restricted it will only allow them to communicate with people on their friends list. Other than that you can quick mute on the scoreboard. Just highlight the name and press A.

I understand you completely, but I play strategy based games with my friends. I hate going in and playing alone, because then you are subject to that kind of thing. The way I look at it, if they talk that way chances are they aren't a team player anyways. SD is tough, it's not the kind of game you go in alone. Suggestion, Join iDz and you won't have to worry about ever having to hear that and we communicate about the game only when we play. We chit chat in the lobby, but we take Search serious.
P.S. if you're on playstation, sorry... we aren't

i setup the account as a family account and managed to find the voice/video and changed that to friends only. this way they can listen to their cousins when playing online. thanks for the tip.
i must admit to enjoy playing call of duty with my boys but it's not so much fun when they tag team me. we kid between ourselves but we don't use foul language to do so.

i'm a potty mouf real lifer... and been that way since i learned to talk. i was the youngest of 5 so when i was born my siblings were reaching teenage and they got a kick out a whatever year old spitting off curse words and saying crazy shit, my father too, sad to say..
but one day i'll quit.. i just ain't ready yet.... actually hanging out here not being allowed to curse helped me out a bit on here.. just on here though, i still curse to whom ever i'm conversing with. f is basically my word of choice, well not choice cause it comes naturally and not noticed by myself as i'm saying it, till someone says yo , you just said fnck like 6 times in one sentence.. i reply with, yeah right ... serious? it is my filler word.. like an uh or ah.. that shit makes you sound like a stoner. watch i was at the, um, bank the other day and ah, i seen this bad ass chick.. i'm like i was at the fnckin bank the other day yo, an seen this mua' fnckin bad ass chick. see it just even sounds cooler, it's the most universal word.. fnck, fnckin, fncker, then you can add the mutha to it. it's a whole nother set of words.. perfect and brilliant.... |

i grew up in a house where you literally would get slapped across the face for cursing. my family was not afraid of physical punishment, it was a different time where that was acceptable or at least you would not get arrested for it.
i understand it's second nature to others. uh and ah, are equally annoying to me and get on my kids when i hear them use it a lot. it's just poor communication skills in my opinion. if you don't have the right words to say, don't say them. this is what i teach my kids. i'm not saying it's what everyone else should be doing. my standards are mine, other parents have their own. from what i hear on xboxlive, there are a lot of parents that have some low standards.

the great thing about online gaming is the ability to MUTE the shit talkers and assholes who try to ruin an otherwise great experience. I like playing online for the competition. i dont like listening to the shit talkers or little kids either for that matter. there for i mute them. pretty easy thing to do.
