I like it because there aren't 37 buttons on the controllers, so anybody can pick it up and play.

My wife and only turn the Wii on when we have a party, and just for the benefit of our guests. I haven't played a decent Wii game since Metroid Prime 3.
The 360, on the other hand, is constantly in use.

As has been stated by others here already, the Wii is a great console if you've got a lot of casual or non-gamers in the house, such as kids, parents, grand parents, girlfriends, etc. It's easy to get into, easy to use, and the games tend to not turn off anyone except those who are allergic to cuteness. It also works well if you're the type to often have a bunch of friends over who occasionally wouldn't mind some simplistic, goofy fun (inebriation might help, although make sure the controller straps are tight).
If you're more of an outright gamer, you're probably better off with either the 360 or the PS3 (and with them it really comes down to which exclusives you care about and/or the BluRay player). I have all three and the Wii is sadly the least used... and then it's probably a few hours a year that I use it when not in conjunction with helping someone with babysitting or bringing it to some party. If the third party support was above mediocre and the whole motion controls a bit more refined, it'd probably be a closer contender. As it stands, it feels like 90%+ of the games worth playing for it are Nintendo's own small library.

I play my Wii a lot but tats b/c I don't have another game system. I like it but it is pretty weak as far as next gen systems go. I mostly play downloaded NES and SNES games from the virtual console. That is what make the wii for me and one of the reasons I bought it.

Ultimately, the Wii is designed for party/group/family environments. Makes for good drinking games with friends. But I don't see it as a single player style console.

I've got all three of the systems and play Wii the least,... But it's the best one for fun games when a bunch of people are over. Sports resort is a blast and the Rabbids games are fun...
