Same here, although I have occasionally "retired" a console; in particular, I moved all my Wii VC games (which admittedly wasn't very many) and saves over to my Wii U, which in hindsight I think I kind of regret as I never really liked the experience of Wii games on Wii U and there's no feasible way of getting them back onto my Wii.

In my case, I actually don't even have the original Switch yet; I was hoping Switch 2 would be completely backwards-compatible, so I wouldn't have any regrets about skipping the first one and just getting the second.

The current console landscape - and not just that - clearly shows new generations of customers are hopeless. Instead of seeking information they use socials just to follow blindly so-called influencers.

I watched some of the Switch 2 treehouse demos on the YT livestream. Prices aside, Mario Kart just didn't impress me. The art direction for the courses just seemed a bit dull. With MK8 the courses are almost always visually interesting with tons of stuff happening in the background. MK8 holds up extremely well with it's excellent environmental art design.

I wonder if the team was just burned out or rushed after making the dlc for MK8 which was almost a new game doubling the amount of tracks.

I think F-Zero would have been a better choice as a launch title racer. Showoff the capability of the hardware with it running at 120 fps and it would be something that's a lot more fresh than Mario Kart. With the dlc being so recent I think Mario Kart needed a bit longer of a break.

I still want the Switch 2 but even if it was $60 I would probably pass on Mario Kart. I still haven't even played some of the cups for the dlc.

edit: Or, make a new Wave Race game as the launch title racer. Instead of just racing with jet skis you could have a variety of watercraft.

The switch 2 is probably going to cost more at launch in the US. Apparently MS has an xbox-rebranded asus handheld ready, I wonder if they already knew about the tariffs and are going to show it after Nintendo raises the price.

Well, my best friend dumped his consoles and invested it into a high end PC. So I certainly get that. He got Steam and that was that - he hasn't looked back.

I'm talking about Xbox.

Through Rewards, by playing on pc or console and using edge and such you can get enough points each month to redeem Game Pass Ultimate, the best tier of their subscription, and get hundreds of games for free. EA sub; day one first party, Call of Duty included; AAA; AA; great selection of indies. All for free.

Think of it as getting the Classified at no extra cost just by browsing Hasbro Pulse. We're getting that kind of deal.

Not just that. Play Anywhere is basically the opposite of the annoying upgrade paths that Sony and Nintendo are using to make you pay to play your old games on new hardware; on Xbox once you buy it, that's it, you get future upgrades for free.

Then the enhanced backwards compatibility; on Xbox you can play 4 generations of games; some are enhanced up to 4k and 60fps, which is really awesome. Ask Sony where you can put your old ps3 discs.

And finally, they have a cheaper console, the Series S, which can be probably found in shops for less than the current price of three games.

So I finally got around to playing Xenoblade Chronicles X and holy cow, the hype on the visuals is real. Graphically it really is that amazing on the switch. I have 1-3 on the Switch and I've played X on the Wii U and it really does look that good. It's a massive improvement on the Wii U version.

How they got it to look this good on the switch is astonishing.
