If you have an original xbox before version 1.6 look into removing and/or fixing the clock capacitor becasue all versions before 1.6 have a bad cap that is leaking and damaging the motherboard.

Yeah, unless it's the 1.6 take it off, the last thing you want is it leaking and ruining the motherboard.
And no matter which version you own now is as good a time as any to apply new thermal paste.

I don't remember which version mine was, but I believe it was an earlier one with one of the failure-prone Thomson DVD drives, so it is probably at risk for the capacitor leaking too. I'll have to look that up.

Yeah those Thomson drives were notorious for breaking down
