Has anyone played this one? If so what are your thoughts? I thought about getting it but as I don't have much time for video games anymore, I'm pretty picky about what I actually pick up nowadays.

I bought it. It's pretty much a Diablo clone. It's an alright game while I wait for Diablo III to come out. It's definitely worth the $19 or so. If you like running through dungeons beating up monsters and getting loot then this game is for you. If not, then skip it. The story is very forgettable.
The only new feature really over Diablo is you have a dog/cat that will fight and sell gear you don't want. The skill/talent trees are OK, but not super fun. You have set powers for each class, but there are scroll powers that you can pick up or buy which are cross class compatible. I found it really comes down to this. I either make my guy a super fast melee machine, or I send in my pets while I do damage from afar. The graphics/sound aren't superb, but I'd say they are well worth the $19 price tag, definitely on par with Diablo, but a little toned down from the blood/darkness of Diablo (more family friendly in my opinion). It does come across a little more cartoonish, but not so much that it annoys. The replay-ability isn't very high in my opinion. You just keep going for better gear really or to see how far you can go. Like Diablo, you have the hard-core option where you only get one life and death is permanent. It also has a gear enchantment feature that will let you have a chance at improving your gear in some way. It can also back fire and remove all enchantments on the gear, which is really really really frustrating. All in all, I'd give it an 8. It's fun way to waste your time, but not a must buy for excitement. It's more of a pleasant time waster that's better than solitaire/freecell. |
