It all depends on the games you want to play. If you find Xbox has more games you're interested in, buy that. And same for PS3. Or just buy both. I did.
Don't worry about the red light problems for the 360 too. They have pretty much fixed that. Plus you got 5 year warranty. |

as most people have stated the graphic are much better on the ps3 but some of the older multi-platform games looked better/ran smoother last year on the 360 until ps3 finally got their heads out of their asses now games look pretty much identical. I myself have had my ps3 for almost 2 years now no problems no breakdowns but my friend's 360 he bought 6 months back broke after the 4th month and he just traded it back to get a wii. soo more or less if you like games and online games 360 is a good system but if you want graphics and a blu-ray player ps3 is your choice.
And lastly the only other issues that i have with the systems is 360 is slowly very slowly gaining more playback compatibility as for ps3 it is compatible right out of the box, but has no controller ports for older ps2 or ps1 nor a memory card slot on either system. Hopefully this is helpful

360 has better graphics, and it may still be a little more time before the PS3 catches up and passes the 360. The 360 is a developer's platform. The 360 is a Microsoft console. Who do you think wrote most of the programming languages? Microsoft. In order to get the games to run on the PS3, they have to use compilers, so the PS3 games end up with a lot more bugs, and require more testing before release. That's why PS3 games always come out later than 360 games. On multiplatform games, the Xbox is always the primary platform, so cross platform games are designed from the ground up to be played on the 360, and only cross bred for the PS3.
I have had a 360 for over a year now, and I haven't had a single problem with it. I play the crap out of it. The solders on the old processors were bad, and they cooked. The newer processors not so much. Don't store it standing up where the vent is blocked, and don't keep it in a TV cabinet where it can't get air. The processor is pretty powerful compared to the PS3. Once the PS3 is actually tapped, it might surpass the 360, but I don't think it has the backing from the developers. The only exclusives it's getting are Sony published games. So unless Sony owns the rights to a game, it's either going to be cross platform, or exclusive to another console. There's too much money to be lost by going exclusive to Sony. That's why Sony is losing a ton of money on every console they sell. They want to populate the globe with these things to get developers to make games for them. Some games are enough to make people buy the console. That's why Sony is taking the loss on their consoles. The problem is the lack of exclusives that Sony has. Besides, what's up with that 'home' business on the PS3? I spent a little while on that, and couldn't figure out what the purpose was. It was cool creating the avatar, but that's about it. If they gave you a gun, and let you rob liquor stores, then it might be cool. I don't see any reason to buy a PS3, unless you want a blu-ray player that you can play Killzone 2 on. |

Both. If you can afford it. Although I prefer PS3. Any system with Metal Gear goes straight to the top of my list.

FYI, a thread similar to this on came up a few months ago, but it is always good to have a lively debate.... so on with it. I own all current game systems, and have had no problems at all with anything. As to the debate over which system has better graphics, sorry 360 players, but PS3 has a much better graphics capability. Sorry PS3 players, but the game companies that "build" games tend to create on the 360 architecture because Sony's are much more difficult to use, and many multi-platform games are ported over to the PS3. If you check the specs, you will find that the PS3 is capable of a whole lot more graphics rendering, but, remember the 360 came out a year before the PS3. Both machines can still outperform most high-end PCs that cost multiple times what both systems cost. This gives the appearance of the graphics on the 360 being "better". A highly subjective subject.
When I bought my 360, I spent over $600. When I bought my PS3 on eBay (the 60GB), I spent $330 shipped last Feb. When it comes down to it, the PS3 beats the 360 in most categories- Media drive: PS3- Blueray 360- DVD-9 Hard Drive: PS3- 20,40,60,80GB (may be removed and swapped out for a larger drive, up to a 500gb, 2 1/2" laptop HD) 360- none, 512MB cartridge, 20, 120GB easily swapped out, just push and slide Wireless capabilities PS3- Wi-Fi, Bluetooth out of the box 360- Nada. you have to purchase a wireless adapter for $99 Online/ Social: PS3- nothing at first, but the new "Mall" is in post beta testing right now (I know, I know, it still sucks) and the DLC shop is still lame, free 360- amazing social networking, for free, and even more with the Gold membership, awesome DLC shop, easy to use Controllers: PS3- wireless, rechargeable, out of the box. just buy a longer USB2 cord 360- depending on which system wired or wireless, proprietary recharge adapter, must buy a rechargeable battery pack excessively expensive controllers Last edited by twatson4_95; 02-09-2009 at 09:03 PM.. |

Ive had both, and honestly they are both amazing in their own capacities (I say had cause my 360 took a dump for the 3rd time). But they both have their strong points.
I mean, 360s got L4D, GTAIV's Exclusive content (WHICH I AM ANGRY I AM MISSING), and GoW2. But on the other hand PS3's got KILLZONE 2 (Which in my opinion is blowing every other FPS out of the water. I was in the beta and have the Demo) and MGS4. You know? I say, get one, save up, then get the other. That way you can have the best of both worlds with no lame-ass fanboyism. All in all I prefer the PS3 right now cause it isn't broken everytime something cool comes out that I desperately need to play. (My 360 made a great habit of that-First with GoW, then BIOSHOCK, and now L4D...). But CTG summed it up pretty well.
